The writing is on the wall. I'd just can him now and get it over with. This creates a bit of a messy front-office situation. I still hate the Hamilton trade. Wonder if Jocketty would have done that one.

Walt will be GM by next season and finally the Reds hire someone who has experience with winning and can build a team from the ground up.

Huh? You think if Jocketty is hired as GM eventually that he will immediately fire Baker? Why would you say something like that?

I like the move and I hope that is true. I would enjoy seeing the Reds be good in the near future. Especially with Junior still around.

Seems like the Reds are really trying to right the ship with some of their moves this offseason. I know a lot of people are upset about the Hamilton trade, but they had to move someone out of that log jam. Hamilton probably was just the most attractive one.

Jocketty has a history of success, so I'm pretty happy.

Yeah but they need to pick whether they're going to go with winning now or a bit of a youth movement. Why sign Cordero and then trade a guy like Hamilton? Then Josh Fogg becomes a target? They don't need another #4 or #5 starter. They want Homer, Cueto, and Maloney to be a part of the future rotation, let them get their feet wet this year. They need to concentrate on 2009 when Junior won't be here. With Hamilton gone, what will their OF be? Dunn, Bruce, and Hopper? I still think they should have held out one more season with the logjam, or at least until the All-Star Break when they'll trade Junior to a contender. Mark my words...if Hamilton stays healthy, and doesn't have a relapse, he'll be an all-star within the next two years. For what? A young kid (Volquez) who throws heat but only has two pitches, as Marty Brennaman has mentioned?

I don't think Dusty Baker could manager his way out of a wet paper bag. Why hire a guy who's proven that he has trouble putting a lineup together and completely mishandles a pitching staff on a team where the managing of pitching needs to be spot on for them to have any chance?

With the young pitching staff you have coming up, I can't help but think that Dusty will ruin Bailey and Cueto like he did Prior and Wood.

that's why I'm hoping he's gone after this year. Certainly Jocketty doesn't think much of him and I hope his influence is enough to make it happen.

You guys do have the advantage of not being cursed in your favor though, so maybe that might help.
