Good question. Seems kind of odd. Maybe the franchise was really a tacked-on afterthought. I will tell you though, the franchise mode in ASB is DEEP! But as far as them keeping track of career stats, i'm not really sure. I guess i could check it out by simming a few seasons. You should ask this question over in the ASB board, you might get a definite answer.

FatPitcher said that WSB has all the end of the year awards you'd expect, plus awards for player of the week/month & pitcher of the month. And players will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. I thought I read somewhere that it does keep track of career stats, as well. If you look through the screen shots of WSB on this site, there's one that shows a screen of Barry Zito's stats, year by year, from 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003.
