    MVP Pitch Speed?

I apologize if this has already been answered somewhere, I have looked. I saw a comment that someone said the pitch speed was going to be pretty fast in MVP.

This is my biggest concern about the game, I am 42 and find ASB to be unhittable. Pitch speed is too fast for me.

    For me:

ASB 2003 way too fast, unhittable
WSB 2003 maybe too slow, but much better than ASB 2003

I know HH 2004 has adjustable pitch speed which is a big plus for me. But I have bought HH about 5 times now and am looking for something a little different. The new mechanics of MVP sounds interesting so I want to give that game a try.

I have no problem with being challenged by the Big Unit. But in ASB *everybody* throws too hard for me

Anybody know about MVP pitch speed and if it's adjustable?

    Thanks!

    Re: MVP Pitch Speed?

I don't think you can adjust the pitch speed, but you won't need to, for several reasons.

While MVP's pitch speeds look pretty fast, they are nowhere near the level of ASB, and are also probably just a shade slower than the "very fast" setting on WSB.

Most importantly, because MVP's hitting model is cursor-less, there was no need for the development team to slow down the pitches to allow you more time to line up a cursor. If the pitch speeds were any slower in MVP it would probably be waaaaay too easy to hit. They look to have the speeds down perfectly, IMO. It appears that changing speeds is going to be crucial, as is the case in real baseball. I suspect I will be fooled on many a changeup.

I would bet that since the game isn't cursor based, it will be a lot easier to make contact with the ball. The thing I would be worried with the most is timing and adjusting to various pitch speeds during the at bat.

I don't think you have to worry too much about catchin up to Randy's 100 mph fastball. I mean, you'll probably end up late most of the time or just compeltely missin it, but it won't be as lopsided as it was in ASB2003 (or whatever year last year's version was numbered) because of the cursor being too slow.

You should be fine. But then again, no one is really expectin to catch Randy's fire...

I think you guys are right about MVP being easier because it's cursor-less; the challenge of lining up that cursor AND getting the bat around in time with ASB was just too much for me. And "easy" hitting was too simplified.

I hope MVP mixes up the pitch speeds well, I love the new batting mechanics. If the bat control works as advertised this is the way that I have always wanted to hit in videogame baseball

Not only does MVP look like it will mix up the pitch speeds really well, but it also looks like the cpu pitchers throw all over the place.

In most baseball games, the pitchers are almost always right around the strike zone, theoretically allowing you to get wood on almost any pitch. There is some variance, but not to the degree that MVP looks to have. It seems EA is attempting to do everything they can to keep us on our toes when we are hitting, even though they are going without a cursor.

Exactly. While there is no cursor you can't just go up there and swing away. You have to get a pitch you can handle and do what you need to do in the current situation(Pull ball, hit a fly, behind the runner etc...)
