Re: Juan Gonzalez to the Cards?
This move would make pretty much zero sense.
We're pretty much in a small rebuilding mode (until our starting pitching improves, mostly depends how Carp and Mulder come back this year) so I'd rather play our younger OF's than waste playing time on Juan Gonzalez.Favorite Teams:
NCAA- University of Illinois Fighting Illini
NFL- Cleveland Browns
MLB- St. Louis Cardinals
NBA- Boston Celtics
NHL- Chicago Blackhawks

Re: Juan Gonzalez to the Cards?
He's 38. To be fair, this isn't as far-fetched as it sounded at first. He played pretty well in limited time in Puerto Rico the last couple years and in the Atlantic League in 2006. If his back and legs are healthy as he claims they are, he might have something left in the tank. I'd give him a shot; nothing to lose by inviting him to spring training.Comment

Re: Juan Gonzalez to the Cards?
Just what the Cardinals need...another juicer. Ugh. LaRussa ought to be doing all he can to stay away from such people or he is going to end up remembered as the 'roid manager.NCAA: Michigan Wolverines
MLB: St. Louis Cardinals
NHL: St. Louis Blues
NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers

If Sosa can get another shot then Juan Gonzalez (who had far more talent that Sosa) should as well."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Not in St. Louis. I'm just saying anywhere."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied.
