Everyone Please Stop...
I want a baseball game so bad its ridiculous, and I want one now, but I really shouldn't spend the money, and you guys are making it hard for me...please no more posts about how great this game is, and the "little things" that just sound amazing, its killing me...really the only thing that ruined it for me last year was I just found it too difficult to hit, but these posts are making me want to try this year's version...Tags: None -
Re: Everyone Please Stop...
It basically comes down to sliders for me, after playing a game that you can adjust the gameplay to suit you I cannot go back to any game that does not have this feature.
ASB has the deepest features and franchise and they seem to have improved gameplay and hitting options, but if the gameplay isn't good right out of the box you're screwed.
All the Football games and Hockey games have sliders I think all Baseball games should have it too.
I have HH and I am enjoying it, but the franchise mode is very weak. I am hoping WSBB will have a better Franchise to go along with the gameplay sliders.Comment

This will cool you off. This game is tough. I cannot, after a dozen practice games, use the cursor batting or zone batting at all. Easy is the only way I can hit. Seems some master it and others haven't a clue. I fit the second.Comment

Re: Everyone Please Stop...
Hey jim, you should be able to get decent results with the zone system if you use exaggerated pitching. I think the real trick to batting in ASB is to follow the ball out of the pitchers hand and keep watching it as it travels towards the plate. Don't bother looking at the pitch location icon except in your peripheral vision. It can be a hard habbit to break, but it really could make a big difference in your hitting.
Oh, and to the original poster, this game really sucks, don't bother with it(that better?)

Re: Everyone Please Stop...
SoxFAn,
Sorry, tried and tried. The ball just gets to the plate too quick. I have no idea how you guys take a pitcher with a good fastball and have the ability to "watch" it out of his hand, process the type of pitch (curve, slider, fastball, etc), push up, down, sideways on the stick anticipating the location and THEN swing. Has anyone been able to time the ball from the time it leaves the pitchers hand until it gets to the plate? It must be a nano-second.
I think most of you guys are children of Houdini, honestly. Maybe the Stepford wives.Comment

Re: Everyone Please Stop...
I'm getting better at reading pitches. I think some of you guys are just trigger happy and swing at everything. Before you start the game, familiarize yourselves with the pitches that your opponents throw and anticipate the pitches. In a simple example of this is when the CPU goes to it's bullpen...sometime the CPU will bring in a pitcher that only throws as fastball and a slider. In this case you should already know that you're either going to get either the fastball or the slider. Early in the count, you're probably gonna get the fastball in an attempt to get you behind in the count. Once you fall behind, look for the slider to get you out. Look for the CPU to set you up with the fastball and come back with a changeup behind it. The CPU will try to keep you off balance.
Try to be patient, the CPU will throw you strikes early in the count and balls to get you out. That's simple baseball. This is more than a game. Use you baseball knowledge of the game (if you have one) while playing ASB. The fastball is hard to catch up with even on Exaggerated Pitching but I get good wood on it a lot. I usually get a late swing and drive it to the opposite field gap.
I have trouble picking up the changeup and sliders that have a very late break on it. Practice, be Patient, watch the ball, not the pitcher or the batter. If you're unsure check swing.
BTW, I use zone hitting on Veteran right now!"Never trust a big butt and a smile."-Ricky Bell
