    Brian Roberts?

I guess this is a no-go for the Cubs? They said the deal would most likely get done by the end of January if it was going to happen. Oh, well, DeRosa it is. He's good but I would have loved to have the speed and the left handed at bat in the lineup.

I was watching SportsNite last night which is a Chicago sports program on Comcast Sports Net. They had a guy on who is a baseball expert and he said the Orioles are waiting on the Erik Bedard trade. If that happens they would more then likely deal Roberts since it would be evident they are in a rebuilding process after getting rid of both Tejada and Bedard.

I hear they're looking to resign Bedard...hopefully they do the same with Roberts. We don't need that bum on the Cubs.

DeRosa can hit, Fontenot can get playing time, be a defensive replacement, and Eric Patterson may be the long term answer.

Eric Patterson is more than likely going to be converted to an OF'er. The Cubs don't like his glove @ 2B

If anyone wants to lose their credibility in one post, this is how to do it.

AL starting 2nd basemen in the '05 ASG, was an AS last year, has been good for 40-50 doubles and a ton of steals since 2004 and is now capable of hitting 10-15 home runs from the leadoff spot, but yeah, he's a bum. Go away.

Anyway, I have a feeling that if the Bedard deal is completed, Roberts will be gone shortly after. Why they're waiting for that, I have no clue.

It depends on what they get for Bedard when it comes to asking the Cubs what they'll give up for Roberts. If they get a lot of young pitching for Bedard they'd ask the Cubs for young hitters and vice versa. The O's have a lot of holes to fill.

I REALLY hope this deal is made. Again, I like DeRosa but I think Roberts would put the Cubs over the top. Sure the Mets are now the favorites in the National League but anything can happen in the playoffs (06 Cardinals?).
