    To the high heat converts...

    Hey everyone --

You all might remember me from the high heat boards, and from some of the tune files I've made. I bought HH2004 for PS2, but have been disappointed.

So, after lurking here and a BBSC for weeks, I decided to pick up ASB2004.

I'm a little mixed on the batting and am wondering how the old high heaters are adjusting. I just can't get used to the little "lifesaver" that pops up and tells me where the ball is going. It seems to take the guesswork out of hitting.

First, does anyone know how to shut that off? I know you can shut it off before the pitch, but can you do it so it doesn't show up during the pitch?

Second, even with that "pitch preview", have you guys adjusted?

    Thanks! Seth

Hopefully I can help you. I've played your tune files by the way and loved them. But HH was getting stale. Go into your options, either in game or main menu and I think it's player options. Turn vibration off, pitching aid off, strike zone off, zone hitting on (or whatever you prefer as far as with or without cursor), and exaggerated pitching on (increases the ball movement). Try these and see if it helps. I'm playing on veteran right now, but will eventually move up to all star.

exactly what he said... you'll have a lot more fun with the game since the challenge will be that much greater.

Converted HH fan here too.... in love with ASB04 for Xbox.

I thought even when you turn all that off, the little icon still shows up as soon as the ball leaves the pitcher's hand. At least that has been the case for me. It would seem to hinder two player games.

Thanks guys. I've shut all that stuff off, but that little marker still shows up. I definately helps my batting eye -- I lay off alot of pitches I may have swung at in high heat. But, as I play more, i'm getting use to it and realizing that it's not that bad.

I agree that HH was getting stale. I think it's still plays a better game of baseball then ASB, but I had the nagging feeling that I've done it all before. This year's version really just felt like a roster update with new pitches. The CPU still swung at the same stuff they always do and hit the ball in the same places.

Maybe we should form a HH-convert support group!

I was a High Heat addict and I need help. abrams99 did you turn hitting aids off? Also the little icon is on when you pitch, but after it disappears, you can move the left joystick for a little after touch. That will come in real handy in two player games. I was playing last night and when I was hitting I know the pitching icon was not present.
I agree with you on High Heat. It's a much "smarter" baseball simulation, but I felt like I was playing the same game the last three years. The only reason I kept playing it was cause I had it on the PC and could "mod" the heck out of it. But last year I didn't make it through half a season cause I got bored with the game. ASB is a welcome change, just hope I don't encounter too many bugs. I had one last night when a ball went into the stands and the runner scored from first because of it. I can handle the occassional bug, but I hope there is no High Heat 2002 "pop up" bug that plagued Wrigley Field a few years ago.

You can add me to the HH converts list. I'm still on the fence about whether or not this is going to be my baseball game of choice this year, but so far it has stayed in the running. Last year it didn't make it past the second day.

I agree with the first posters settings. I turn off all the icons and vibration, turn on zone hitting and exxagerrates pitches. I even managed to get walked a few times. I, on the other hand, still only walk batters when I hit them.
