Re: Jersey advice question
Not being on the team isn't the issue....It's blowing your hard earned cash on something that could look pretty foolish in a year.
I own several White Sox jerseys, a Konerko, Thome and a Buehrle. I also own one with my name on it.....
It's all personal choice, kinda like the tucked/untucked jersey debate.Proud White Sox season ticket holder.Comment

Re: Jersey advice question
Seriously, we're talking about grown men pretending to be part of a professional baseball team.
If you don't want the risk of getting a jersey that's obsolete then go the throwback route. I'm the biggest victim I know of buying authentic baseball jerseys of players that leave soon after, but I have a couple pairs of players who were traded for each other and since there aren't any Florida throwbacks, I guess I'll just have to get a new one when Maybin and Ramirez are gone.Comment

Re: Jersey advice question
I'd go with Zambrano personally, I doubt he goes anywhere soon. Marmol would be a good option as well.Comment

Re: Jersey advice question
All kidding aside, I think you are correct with throwback being the single best option these days.
I'm mulling over my next White Sox purchase right now....I know I want an authentic road grey, but I'm trying to figure out if I want a Swisher or go throwback with Frank ThomasProud White Sox season ticket holder.Comment

Re: Jersey advice question
If I get a current player I was thinking of getting Soriano, Ramirez or Lee. At least I know most likely none of them are going anywhere for few years anyway.Comment

Re: Jersey advice question
I named my youngest son after Sandberg so if I was to get another Cubs jersey it would be his. I bought a Cubs Garciaparra jersey 2 weeks after he was traded to the team. But I thought it would be cool if I did a pearsonalized jersy to do someone from another sport, I've always thought of doing an Earnhardt 3 Cubs jersey, or Earnhardt Jr. 88“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

Re: Jersey advice question
I like the idea of getting a jersey personalized with your own name and number. If you a fan, you're a fan, what's the big deal. As for pretending to be a "real" player, I don't see how that applies unless pro players run around in their own jerseys when they're not on the field.
So some posters think it's lame to get your name put on the jersey. I guess it's better to look lame than lame AND cheap(wearing that Sosa jersey since you probably got it on clearance).Comment

Re: Jersey advice question
I'm a big tigers fan and have jerseys of Pudge, Verlander and Sheff.... this year I hope to get Maggs, Cabrera, Polanco and Granderson. The Granderson jersey is a safe buy now that he signed that 5 year extension. The jersey I'd kill to have though..... #7 Dean Palmer, he was my 2nd favorite player growing up, cant find it on ebay, may have to custom it. I remember a few years ago going to Tigers games I'd always see a fan with a Jose Macias Tigers jersey, god I loved that.
I now collect old champion basketball jerseys off of ebay and such and its amazing some of hte jersey's you'll find. My favorite jersey I own is a Chauncey Billups Celtics jersey. The next one I really want is a Gheorghe Muresan Bullets. My Teams:
NFL - Washington Redskins
MLB - Detroit Tigers
NBA - Detroit Pistons
NHL - Washington Capitals
NCAA - Virginia Cavaliers
NCAA - Arkansas Razorbacks
NCAA - Michigan St SpartansComment

Re: Jersey advice question
The beauty about being a Yankees fan and buying a jersey that is authentic is that there arent any names on the back..So if you wanted to keep it authentic you just have to buy a jersey with a number on the back!!PSN: ckarlic
