Teixeira was the 5th overall pick in the amateur draft two years ago, and he is supposedly one of the best 3rd baseman prospects in the game. Most people have him projected as a future all-star, but he might still be a year away. He tore up the minors last year and if he does stay in the minors at the beginning of this season, it will be his last stint in the minors for sure. I think Texas will bring him up at the end of the season and he will be penciled in as the starter for next year.

texdirtbag, they say he's tearing it up in spring training and he may be on the opening day rosters. I see Hank Blalock being traded soon!

Hey SoMiss...fellow Ranger fan here. We don't have everything goin for us, but man we got one hell of an infield! Here's my view, if we think that Raffy can play another 3 years and be at least .280 40 hr 100 rbi hitter for those 3 years, and we are committed to signing him after this season, then I say, trade Blalock for the best pitching prospects available! Teixiera is a stud! I've seen this guy hit, he's unbelievable, now I don't know about his defense, I think Blalock would be the better defensive 3rd baseman, but Teixiera would tear it up at the plate, and he's a switch hitter with power on both sides! But the last thing I want is to lose Blalock this year, and then lose Palmeiro because we don't sign him. But, God, we need pitching. The way I see it, we could easily, trade Raffy near the deadline to a contender who might need some pop in the DH or 1st...get some more pitching prospects, then go with Blalock at 3rd, and Teixiera at 1st. With Arod, and Young in the middle...the infield is taken care of for the next 5-7 years.

Thanks for the info on the Asian faces. I wonder if there are any websites that have some pitching prospects' pitches and scouting reports. I'll probably create some Yankee pitching prospects or just edit some fake minor leaguers but a website like that would come in handy.

I gotta research this guy Texiera or Tiexera however you spell it. I've never heard of this prospect. Hey Rangers fans, I'm just wondering what's his potential and is he gonna be in the starting rotation to start the season?

As an avid Georgia Tech fan (Texiera's alma mater), I have followed the press on him. Looks like Blalock has been taking reps at second during Spring Training and Tex is playing both 1st and 3rd.

Nikeford, I'd like to see Blalock and one of our pitching prospects to KC for Carlos Beltran. We need a CF like we need good pitching. Carl Everett is going to struggle in The Ballpark if he gets the nod at center. Beltran's a free agent after the season and we could go after him then but if Blalock is traded, I'd like them to go after him. For some reason, John Hart does not like Young at 2nd but he just can't pull him off the field. He's making his case everyday. And no way Blalock would work better with ARod than Young. Blalock said he's not played 2nd since little league. I definitely see Teix taking over at third. He's also been getting some work at 1st base. The outfield is a little crowed right now!

Texas Ranger fans need to realize that we are not going to get pitching through free agency because this is a hitter's park and no free agent is going to sign here. The only way we are going to get decent pitching is by developing the talent in our farm system.

Agreed....I've wanted Beltran for quite sometime! This Ranger team is a clusterfu@$. I just see the potential for the infield to be very good for a very long time. If I was John Hart, I'd sure as hell keep Young, he's a stud defensively...and its not like his .270 avg with 60 RBI was the reason this team lost. Besides, he's not going to command $10 million a year like a Blalock and Teixiera will in a few years. I really think this team has tons of trade bait this year, with so many one year contracts such as Palmeiro, Everrett, Gonzo, Urbina, Valdes...we'll have $40-50 million to spend next year. It would be nice to get some pieces to the puzzle in the outfield and the starting rotation. I see the possibility for this outfield to be completely different in 2004.

Gonzo will probably be gone after the seaon...This is Everett's contract year so I expect him to put up pretty decent numbers but I don't think he'll command that big a salary at his age and with his track history. If Valdes can get any run support this year, he should win between 10-15 games. That was the biggest problem last year with him...he got no run support. Don't be surprised to see Kenny Rogers back with the Rangers. I hope we can get him back as he's the one who's learned how to pitch in Arlington. Tom Hicks says that he wants Ralphie back, we'll see after the season.
