If you were to ask LoDuca (if he were still a Met) you know what his answer would've been.

Paul LoDuca stinks. He's the only catcher in the league that needs the pitcher as a cutoff man when trying to throw out runners attempting to steal 2b.

I don't care who the team to beat is, and all this talk doesn't mean much. Both teams took this rivalry to the next level last season, despite the Phillies beating the **** out of the Mets. They had some classic games, and I hope it continues into this season.

Before adding Johan, I really thought the Mets were actually worse than they were last season. No doubt, Johan is the best pitcher in the league, and he's about as close as you can come to guaranteeing yourself a win every 5th game...but he's still only playing every 5th game. The rest of that rotation doesn't scare me one bit, and the Phils have managed to get to Wagner a few times since he departed Philly. With that said, I know the Phillies rotation doesn't scare anyone either...but they still have arguably the best offense in the NL.

Still, what Wright said was expected. He's, by far, the class of that organization.

Besides...who really gives a fack about any team that didn't win the Championship.....after them....all the rest of the teams BLOW.

can I ask how they could be WORSE?? They got rid of that old man pitcher, upgraded at SP and got a defensive catcher, and basically kept the core of the lineup (Reyes, Wright, Beltran) together.. Only thing I would say is the RF spot is unproven (had a decent year last year for the Nats) and Delgado has to do better than last year..

Simple.

Downgrades on offense at RF and C, and Delgado's a year older after struggling last year. Say whatever you want, but Glavine was effective last year. Before signing Santana, it's easy to argue that the Mets weren't as good as they were last year...on paper.

Shawn Green (starter last year) in RF was better than Ryan Church?? A beach ball wearing a mitt was better than him.. Glavine was good, but he got hammered in his last 3 starts

So..

Santana -- MUCH better than Glavine

Church - unproven, but Green was a waste (except against Smoltz)

Schneider -- bat weaker than LoDucca's, but LoDucca had a weak arm an grounded into too many rally killing DP's.. (lost a little with the bat, but gained back with the arm)

Delgado is the big ?... I would take 30 jacks, 100 rbi's but who knows what he will do...

I didn't realize Church's numbers were better than Green's last year. It's also unfair to judge Glavine's season by his last 3 starts. Sure, he sucked ***, but the entire team disappeared in September.
