Well, I wanted to drive with some friends here at school to NY and check out my Mets on opening day, but we decided (well, the person with the car) decided that we should drive to Toronto and check out the Yanks on opening day. So...the plan is to drive to Toronto for the 7 pm opening day game, stay at the Skydome hotel that night (so cheap in American dollars) while bringing a PS2 and WSB 2K3, waking up and catching the 3:30 game the next day, and then driving back to school about 4.5 hours away. Throw in some cheap Canadian beer at the ballpark...and the only way it could be better is if the Mets were playing. Though on the plus side, I can scream obscenities at Yankees players.

Don't get videoed having sex in the Skydome hotel. Those Canadians are watching anything else other than the Blue Jays.

Re: Opening Day Rituals: A Distraction thread

Being from NY i would love nothing more then to go to a Mets game on opening day. That BBQ sounds good, but unfortunately i go to college in Boston where people live and die Red Sox. I should make a shirt that says God Bless Buckner on the back, with a Mets Logo on the front.

The other option is to become a Red Sox Fan for the next couple years, but anytime I hear Nomar pronouned Nomaaaa it pisses me off.

So, with a little luck, I can find a bar that will carry the Mets games, and I can go down there with a few other Mets die hards and we can watch Art Howe turn the Mets back into Playoff Contenders GO METS

Man...I hope you stay a Mets fan. One of my best friends from high school was a Mets fan (we went to countless games at Shea over the years) and then went to college up in Boston. Now he's a Red Sox fan...and claims that the Mets are his "national league team." That hurts. I have only been with him to Shea once since we got out of college. In his defense, a girlfriend of his in college worked with the Red Sox so he got to go to Fenway for free for a couple of summers and spend some time with the players...but I still can't see how you can ditch a team like that, shaking Pedro's hand notwithstanding. Just be strong, and don't become evil like my friend became.

And I like that Buckner shirt idea...I bet you could make some money on that.

Glad ya like the shirt idea, its good to know my high priced education is paying off, too bad i study political science instead of marketing. Dont worry about me crossing over, ive been a Mets fan all my life, maybe the Sox will become my favorite American League team, but thats it. GO METS
