Re: Best game attended in person?

May 7th, 2006 @ Citizens Bank Park when Barry Bonds hit # 713 coming w/in 1 homer run of tying Babe Ruth.

    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2437045

It was a bomb of a shot traveling 450 ft...Me and my buddy Kevin couldn't believe our eyes.

The whole atmosphere was intense too...Everyone in the stadium concentrated all their boos on Bonds. It was an awesome experience. I left the game hoarse as hell, but to see and be a part of that history was a cool feeling.

I also got to see Cal Ripken Jr. play a handful of times which was a treat.

November 1, 2001. World Series Yankees vs Diamondbacks. With the Yankees down by one in the 9th Posada led off the inning with a double against byung hyun kim. (who by the way gave up a game tying home run the game before to tino martinez.) Kim then got the next two batters out. Thats when Scott Brosius came to the plate. With a 1-0 count Brosius hits a game tying 2 run home run to left. Thats when the chants of Byung-Hyun Kim for MVP started. Then yankees won in the 12th when Soriano knocked in Knoblauch. Def a game i will always remember. Never been to a game as close to exciting as that one.

I've only been to one professional baseball game, it was nothing big, although I did get to see Bobby Abreu play for the Astros and Jermaine Dye for the Braves.

My roommate however got to see Kenny Rogers perfect game and a Nolan Ryan no-hitter. She has incredible luck at Rangers games. There's one other even I'm missing that she saw, but oh well.

I went to Game Two of the Tigers ALCS in 2006. That was great although I think a game earlier that summer was better. The Tigers beat the Cardinals 6-5 in 10 innings. They were down 5-3 in the 9th inning and Monroe or Thames hit a two run homer to tie it up off the closer (with two outs I think). The crowd was packed and we had a great time.

I hadn't been to a baseball game where it was actually near capacity in a long time. The Tigers horrible years usually meant 20,000 fans a game and easy seats. This year, the team will probably sell out every game.

Re: Best game attended in person?

Out of all the games I've been to about 3 stand out for me.

                1) June 1st 2003 - Yankees at Tigers - Roger Clemens was going for his 300th win and I had seats in the first row in the upper deck. Roger had the win going into the 6th but the Tigers came back to lose in 16 innings.

                2) June 2nd 2007 - Braves at Cubs - Lou Pinella explodes on the 3rd base ump over a questionable crowd. Never seen a crowd get as crazy before and with it being at Wrigley everyone was just a drunken mess cheering Lou.

                3) Opening Day 2004 Twins at Tigers - It was the year following our horrible 119 loss season and the crowd was optimistic after the signing of Pudge, Vina, and Rondell. We just swept the Blue Jays in Toronto so the crowd was pumped at possibly going 4-0 after such a bad season. The thing I take away most from this game was when Bobby Higginson (one of my favorite players of all time no matter what) got the game winning RBI and the sellout crowd was chanting Higgy Higgy. Also the first Opening Day I've ever been to.
                My Teams:
                NFL - Washington Redskins
                MLB - Detroit Tigers
                NBA - Detroit Pistons
                NHL - Washington Capitals
                NCAA - Virginia Cavaliers
                NCAA - Arkansas Razorbacks
                NCAA - Michigan St Spartans

Yeah I kinda miss those days of just driving to the game and getting 1st row outfield pavilion seats for only $14. Never would have thought of buying tix before the game before 06. But I still would never want to go back to those days.

While now it's not as cool due to the steroid crap, I was at Milwaukee County Stadium when Jose Canseco became the 1st 40/40 player. He was my "idol" growing up so that was very cool for me as a 12 year old kid.

Kevin Milwood's no hitter back in 2003. Would have loved to say last seasons NL east clinching game for the Phils, but couldn't get tickets.
