One of the things 3DO has been getting bashed up side the head about the past couple of years is the fact that they are getting lazy and add only roster updates, put a new year on the cover and ship the game to retail.
There is no way they can be blamed for that this year. However, it has come at somewhat of a cost for fans of the PC version of the game.
High Heat 2004 is a strait up port of the XBOX version of the game. Gone are things like mouse support and in-game saves.
A total bummer I know. However, before you cry foul listen up. The new graphics engine really makes this game look a whole lot better than before. Smooth animations, GREAT (and I do mean GRRRRRRRRRRREEEAAAAAT!) looking stadiums, and the sweet gameplay that High Heat has become famous for.
The default rosters are way off, but being the PC version, once DangerZ's Editor releases this won't be a problem for long.
If you've been a fan of the PC version of High Heat and can live with the console presentation, lack of mouse support and no in-game saves I think you'll find this game very enjoyable.
I'm not sure if we'll be able to "mod" this game as much as past versions, but I think that updated rosters and things like that will be hitting Baseball Sim Central in just a few days.
If you don't care about updated rosters and the possibilities of modding then you'll prolly want to go with the XBOX version to enjoy the comfort of sitting on the couch, chair, floor, whatever floats your boat and playing on the big screen.
