    Interesting tidbit reguarding MVP

I got this off a post on IGN from one of their eiditors. He goes by the name of Makaze-IGN

The ? was when will IGN review MVP and WSB

"Last time we all talked about it, Friday was the planned date for WSB.

As far as MVP goes, EA has embargoed all online sites from reviewing it until it ships on the 11th"

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
Seems like EA may be a little scared to get reviews out the door. If they were totally sold on the game you think they would want word out before WSB reviews were showing up. I really hope this is not the case

Again this is just word from one the the IGN editors and does not mean it is gospel as far as the "embargo" goes

        Not really.

Ea has always been like that. They are all about money. When is the last time youve seen a demo from EA?

Also if you guys remember there have been a couple reviews from EA that have been published. Xbox Magazine comes to mind as well as OGM. So it has been reviewed already...

That's exactly why they don't want anyone to review it before it's launched. MONEY. Like Graphik said, they don't want to lose any money if a bad review makes consumers skeptical before release. Everybody is going to run out and buy it because its EA and EA knows this. That's really shady if you ask me.

And the reviews that were in XBOX Magzine and OGM weren't the final version.

They can do that? Stop someone from a review before it's released?
Why wouldn't all companys do the same thing?

Because not all companies have the market share (read: leverage) that EA has.

Hypothetically speaking, let's say you owned a gaming site the size of IGN, and EA told you they wanted you to hold your review back until release.
                    You say "no".
EA replies by saying, "OK. I guess we won't be sending you any more betas - of anything - sports, Sims, console titles, PC titles, anything. But nothing has to change if you just push your review back a few days..."

What would you do? You'd push it back, too!

However, while EA uses the leverage it can (as would Sega or anyone other companies if they had the power to and thought it would suit their purposes), I'm still going to try MVP - because I decide whether I like a game or not. Reviews help, these Forums help - but nobody can truly tell you what you think - you have to try it yourself and find out.

Thats the thing I dont like about EA. To them its all about he money and not about us consumers anymore. The very reason I dont trust them.
MVP to me is like Coke making Coke II.

As shady as it is its still a good marketing strategy, and im sure it will help them sell more copies initialy, its a smart (but unfortunate) move on EA's part, especially if the game isnt that good....
