I am not sure why Wagner would talk about that publicly, but in an exibition game the Michigan player should just swing away. Wins don't count, and I can't think any scouts would be thinking to themselves oooooh he bunted I have to put him on some must watch list. A chance to get a hit and drive in a run against a Major leaguer. SWING batter batter SWING.

You're basically saying the kid or anyone else shouldn't play the game. It's an exhibition GAME, not a bullpen session with a cardboard cut-out standing in the box. Last time I checked bunting was still within the rules.

It's not shocking, it's just an incredibly douche move when you're an athlete who makes tens of millions of dollars to accuse a college kid of "playing to win" when he's matched up, probably for the only time in his life, against a major league team. Nobody's saying it's something awful, it just highlights the fact that Wagner is a total douche.

But we Phillies fans have known that for years....

Of course its in the rules, but whats the point of bunting. In a Big Ten game or any game play to win. In an college v. Mlb exibition game take your shot. Pull the ball to the right side of the infield to move the runner, hit to the opposite way, whatever. A bunt is weak.
And I still say Wagner is making something out of nothing. I am not saying any beaning should have taken place.
