I mean if you are going to make a post or thread on returning the game at least give the poor developers, who slaved over the title for a year a bone and give a few details as to how they let you down and what is needed to make HH 2004 (or for that matter any sports game) better.

As far as my gripes go, first off - i love the batter/pitcher interface. Every pitch is a struggle and I felt a real sense of accomplishment after a hit or after K'ing a batter.

What I didn't like - same choppy aninmations... same dull graphics, fake minor league player names, unreal looking players, choppy animations (oops, already mentioned that... but it's definitely an issue), pitches are a little too exxagerated IMO...

This isn't to say it's a bad game!! I just think 3DO could have done better. I realize they put a lot of work into this year's installment and I feel they did a worthy job... but it's just not as solid as it should have been this year.

Re: 3DO really dropped the ball with this year\'s HH

If you know anything about 3DO, you should have gone into this knowing the graphics are much better than last year's, but don't approach the other games yet!
That being said and if you are open minded, you should also realize the thing that hooks HH players is the realness of the gameplay and the batter/pitcher interface. In these aspects, HH is still the king, the gameplay is untouched still by any other baseball title. I think what pisses people off most about HH is that if you don't know baseball, you will be terrible at this game. Leave the pitcher in too long, you're done. Don't use relievers for lefty/lefty and righty/righty match-ups in crucial situations, you're done. Don't make double switches at the right time, you're done. Don't hit the cut-off man when you need to, the AI baserunners will do you ugly.
The AI is what sets HH apart from any other game and will until the other titles can come up with the same challenge with their AI. In HH, you actually pay for mistakes that the AI in other games doesn't take advantage of. How often will a CPU controlled pitcher throw bad pitches when they are ahead in the count to try and make you chase one. What other game has the AI pulling double switches, bunting runners over, grabbing any extra base possible, playing great defense and actually being competitve against any human player?

There is a reason HH gets better scores than the other titles despite subpar graphics and the lack of features other games sport, it is b/c HH is the closest thing to portraying real baseball and made by TRUE baseball fans who don't care so much if the player looks exactly like his rel life counterpart, as long as he plays like him.

^ For the reasons listed above, I purchased this game.
I'm hooked to it already, starting a franchise with Detroit, my hometown team.
The game is so realistic, sure, the graphics are surpassed by WSB and MVP, but the gameplay pulls it to the next level. It is so much like real baseball, it is crazy..

                          Jordan,

I agree with you about HH gameplay. The player models are not as good as last years PS2, but the animations sure are. Good job on that one. But don't you think 3DO, at some time, has to better this game in other areas. I think they took a step backwards with their menus, stats, crowds remained the same, and I can't listen to "He leans away from it" anymore regardless of the gameplay. It needed a shot of baseball ambience this year and it didn't get it. For those who have played the game faithfully for years (me) I just can't get into it. Yes, great gameplay, but not much ambience. I'm trading in my HH game for WSB next week. I, personally, just need to see a new face as they say. I'm not even getting the PC version.

I'm now hearing wait until next year for improvements for the PC people who have been disappointed, but consumers, impatient as we are, don't want to wait until next year. Plus, 3DO has the gameplay and should have been able to make giant leaps in other areas of the game. True, true they aren't the biggest company out there, but you only get to the top (in sales) by putting out a product people really want to jump into. If it becomes stale to players they'll move on.

Again, I'm a HH fan. I've owned the 2002 and 2003 versions for the PC. I'm just not impressed with this year's offering. That's all. I'm gonna give WSB and MVP a look. I may not like them either.
