    IDEA FOR Pitcher/Batter Interface

I am not sure if EA implemented this or not.
Similar to EA's meter system, I thought of a good system to implement. Hopefully, MS can do this with IP before it comes out.

Meter system similar to freethrow shooting in nba2k3 and ID 2003. Depending on pitchers ratings--control, arm strength, type of pitch-- and FATIGUE level (similar to ID 2003) it gets more difficult for user to throw pitch where you want to. As in basketball its harder for some players eg Shaq to throw freethrows.

As for batting, triggers for swinging and analog stick for direction of swing. Depending on connection, a vibration effect similar to Halo's gunfire feedback occurs. Player can pull ball or go with the pitch-result depends on location and timing.

As for fielding, I think manual or automatic fielding should be an option. I think MVP's fielding throws with meter is good from what I have seen in tutorial. However, hopefully the players ratings (arm strength, accuracy etc) are factored into the throw. Not everyone can gun down runners from the outtfield. Also, players thrown out from the outfield at first base on base hits does not occur too often--RARELY. Hopefully, they fixed this in mvp or any other game for that matter. Developers have got to have realistic ball speed relative to running speed in the game.
Players usually score from 2nd on base hits as well unless it is really short and in RF.

Ive mentioned this before, but since you brung up hitter and batter interface, Ill mention it again.

For games that have a cursor (which should be the actual size of the baseball's game model) to show you where the pitch is going, there should be a larger, faint circle that is dependent on the Pitchers control, stamina, and the pitch. This circle would change during the game, and get larger and change shape (depending on the pitch) as the pitcher gets tired.

This would be more accurate a representation of the factors that determine where the pitch will end up. Also, it would allow you to have better awareness of when a pitcher is loosing his stuff.

So basically, the pitch never really ends up exactly where you want it, but will 90% of the time fall into the larger circle, with a few errant throws here and there.

That's more or less how it should be with pitching, but it's not just accuracy, you also have pitching speed, break, etc.

As far as triggers go I think WSB2K1 on the Dreamcast actually had a nice trigger batting system where you pull the trigger and release it to swing. My friend always talks about that.

I like the descriptions of MVP's batting system.
