    Re: pitching location???

The best way I can describe is this.

There are 9 zones. You don't pitch to a spot you pitch to a zone. So if you want to throw a stike low and away to a left handed batter you would press down and left. On a right handed batter that would be low and in.

Jrod that is exactly what i am doing.
but 9 out of 10 times they turn out to be balls out of the strike zone.
What i am asking is do i have to be on the left, middle or right of the pitching mound and/or do i need to hold the button and/or D-pad longer or shorter to get a strike.
is there a certain point in the pitchers windup or stretch that is a good release point.
I had HH2003 and dont remember it being this hard to throw strikes.

I have found that you need to check the control ratings of your pitcher...

It seems that those with control ratings 90+ hit the corners much more than those with minus 90.

If your pitcher is less than 90...make sure you jump ahead in the count...dont try and hit a corner...but mix yor first pitch selection so the CPU gets a jump on a pitch.

Once you are ahead in the count the CPU seems to chase those off the plate pitches.

You definitely have to work harder when your pitcher has poorer control....

I don't think it has anything to do with pressure on the buttons or how long you hold it, just make sure that when you hit A that you are also holding the direction of the pitch use the d-pad and experiment with it. Also their is a pitch control slider.

                        tTheGuru,

Okay I see what you mean. Ya what Mr Cook said, it doesn't really matter how hard you press the analog stick.

I had the same feeling the first time I played a game. Denny Neagle couldn't hit the broad side of the barn and had 70 pitches through 5 innings with 6 runs scored.

The problem I figured out is we are so used to playing ASB, and other games then when a pitch isn't perfect we cry foul. I know I did the same thing.

I just played my new season (I'm a rockies fan and I don't even know half the starting lineup this year, thanks Dan O'Dowd so I'm going to play a season as the Angels.) And Washburn pitched 8 innings, struck out 5, had 110 pitches and 4 hits with two HRs. It's pretty realistic.

Just play with some more accurate pitchers and you'll be able to hit your spots. With players that have poor control, it's like rasslin a greased pig.

I kind of like that their isn't a pitdching icon. This seems more realistic to me. It is easier to pitch with the icons, but I am liking this a lot more.

Exactly, no pitcher can spot every pitch perfectly, I don't care how good his control is. Seth Etherton of the REDS said he struck two guys out with fastballs Friday that weren't even close to the spots he was aiming.
