Conine is a "tool" because he wants to retire as a Marlin? Maybe it's because he had his fondest memories as a big leaguer there?

SAN FRANCISCO--Former Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino has come out of retirement to sign a one-day contract with the San Francisco 49ers, allowing him to officially retire a member of a franchise that won 4 Super Bowls during his storied career. Marino, in an emotional ceremony, said he was happy to finally be able to retire a winner.

"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

I don't see any issue with this also, let the player choose what team he wants to retire with, after all he is "MR. Marlin" I believe Carolina Panthers are working
on giving Stephen Davis a 1 day contract so he can retire a Panther. no issues with that.
