Re: Padres\' Nevin expects to be out until \'04

I'd like to see them give him a shot. He's got 2 hits and a stolen base so far today. He's got a real quick bat. I think it depends on how he plays the rest of spring training, but it looks like they will give him every opportunity to win the LF job.

Damn, Nevin's out again. Something i didn't want to hear about. There's a lot of possiblities for Nevin's 03 replacement. Some canidates that might win the starting job is Brady Anderson, Brian Buchanan, or Xavier Nady. The others might still be on the bench as a back-up outfielder.

      Dammit, why Nevin?

Think Nevin hates Sean Burroughs' guts right now? if the Pads didn't push Nevin into the outfield because of Burroughs he wouldn't be on the DL right now.

I've been a Padres fans for years, been in New York for two years now, and have grown to love the Yanks. My heart is always with the Pads though. Man, what a blow to lose Hoff and now Phil. You peeps are right, we now went from worse to really baaaaddd! Hey, at least the Chargers got Mr. Boston. I guess I will pull for the Yanks to win it all this year. Something about watching sports in NY, that you can't explain to anyone that doesn't live here. The tradition and vibe is in the air. Well, get better Phil! This one is gonna hurt those swinging fryers.

Dear god not Brady. I went to three games (including the one where Nevin got hurt, it seemed like when he did that, everyone around me said some sort of 4 letter word) and he struck out 5 times in 2 games, and I don't think he even got on base. Nady looked good, and so did Tagg Bozied, but I don't like Tagg anymore, because he signed me ball, right frickin on top of Ramon Vasquez's autograph!

Dude, that sucks about your ball. Tagg looks like he could hit for some serious power. One thing they could do if they feel like Nady isnt ready is to move Klesko to the outfield and let Tagg play first if he's ready. But they might as well play the kids, they dont have much else to lose.

From what I have seen so far (it's still early in spring) Nady is a lot readier for the bigs than Tagg is..While I don't know what kind of numbers Nady would put up this year, he looks to be the real deal.. Hopefully he will pan out as the Padres have developed a lot of young arms but really havent had much success developing position players in the last several years.

As John Fricke from San Diego's Mighty 1090 said earlier today... go with the youth movement. Personally, I would be more excited to watch a group of youngs guys like Nady and company then washed up Brady Anderson, Roberto Kelly and Kieth Lockhart.
