I've been reading alot of posts about people saying they returned one game in exchange for another, mainly to EB. Is this true? Are people able to take a game back and exchange it for another, simply because they don't like the one they bought? Please someone let me know about this, cause if this is the case I will buy ASB, play it to see if it's what I am really looking for, and once I get a chance to rent WSB, I'll just decide which one I want more. But I don't want to buy ASB, and not know if I'm going to be stuck with it if I don't like it.

This is how I understand the return policy:

If you buy from EB, EBgames or EBX...you have 14 days to return a game. You can only return it for store credit. As of March 17, that policy will change and you will only be a ble to exchange a game for the same game.

If you buy from Babbages or Gamestop, you must return teh game within 7 days. you can get store credit or a refund. Their policy is not changing.

Anywhere else....Bestbuy, Walmart, Target...you can only return it for the same title.

What is the big deal? Gamestop(babbages)still has the 7 day return policy and there is a particular customer store i go to where they actually encourage me to return games if i dont like it. Sometimes what i do is return the game within 7 days and if i dont like anything out yet i just put the money towards a game coming out in the future.

When I lived in Florida this was the case. EB had a 14 day return policy then they backed down to a 10 day return policy. You could get your money back if you didn't like the game. I know, cause I returned several games that were crap. The problem is people took advantage of this policy. They would play and finish the game and return it and get another one. I remember watching this take place and I couldn't believe the EB manager didn't say anything. I myself wondered how long this policy would last.

Hell I remember back in the mid '90s Babbages had a no question return policy. You could bring a game back 3-4 months later if you didn't like it. Which is my point, people took advantage of these generous policies and so EB scaled back and so did Babbages/Software Etc.

The only problem I have with the stance EB has taken is that it takes the incentive of paying higher prices for games if you can't return a game you don't like. I can find them a lot cheaper at Best Buy and Fry's Electronics than I do at EB or Babbages.

well for one you live in FLA, I live in NY, they don't have those kinds of policies here anywhere. I have never heard of a 7 day return policy. I used to work at best buy, and kaybee toys when i was younger, and the policy was, "once you open it, its yours, unless its defective, then you can return it for the same exact title...." Thats how it is everywhere. And the reason its a big deal is because alot of the kids on these boards are full of crap, and im just trying to get some clarrification from some people, I'd really like to hear from one of the moderators about this without having to ask directly.

Pauly, why dont you just call an EB or a Babbages in your area and ask them what their return policy is.

Here is how you get around EB's new policy.

You take said game back to Walmart (with out a receit of course) and they force you take a new copy.

Since this new copy is perfectly sealed you can then take it back to EB and say you got it as a gift, but already own it. Since it is sealed and you have the original receit for EB, they must take it back.

The problem with this is the barcodes will not match. The lot numbers will be different and the store will know that game did not come from one of it's own stores.

Well i have thought about calling yes.... but im just going on past experiences from years back mind you, that once the game was opened, you bought that SPECIFIC tiltle. the thing about the bar codes is, they are called UPC's for a reason. its an acrynim for "Universal Purchase Code"... the key word here is UNIVERSAL, so no, not all stores know where it came from, which is the reason you have the ablility to purchase at one best buy, but return it to another across town... Im not trying to get around anything, im just trying to figure out how some people can do what i thought was impossible... Thanks for the pointer about the stores in Manhattan... I stay away from the city as much as humanly possible... I do like the idea about returning it to a different store for the exact title, but leaving the wrapping on it... thats pretty crafty... i hope store managers dont see our posts, cause we could ruin it for thousands of others... thanks for your imput guys, the only sure bet around all this is to wait my impatient *** off, and rent them as they come out, but ASB isnt even available for rent from blockbuster until the 30th of this month, and its been out for 2 weeks already....lol
