    Allow me to rant

What the hell is the MLB thinking?

I'm watching the White Sox and the Indians play a night game in Cleveland tonight...when it was a perfectly good day outside the whole day. If you don't know, it gets cold in Cleveland at night until at least May. Now this wouldn't be a problem...if it wasn't the second day of freakin season. Most teams play day games unless they are in warm climates or in a dome. Not only does this affect the play, but who is going to want and sit in 34 degree weather just for the second game of the season. This isn't October guys, it's freaking April.

The MLB needs to think next year when they schedule...because this is very, very dumb.

Consistantcy has nothing to do with it.

After tomorrow's game the White Sox travel back to Chicago while the Indians have to travel to Oakland.

          Thankfully.

I'm not saying give the Indians all home games...it's just that playing a night game in the beginning of April is just not smart for the MLB to do. At least start at 4:05, that way you can have a reasonable crowd and still have good weather for most of the game.

In any case, it doesn't matter because the MLB doesn't answer to the fans.

The first week of the year should be played in the following places.

AL: Tampa Bay, Toronto, Minnesota, Kansas City, Oakland, Texas, Los Angeles

NL: Florida, Atlanta, Houston, St. Louis, San Diego, Arizona, Los Angeles, San Francisco

It'll never happen (imagine the Yanks/Sox never playing at home until mid-April) but weather wise it makes so much sense.

That used to happen a few years ago, before the MLB set up the unbalanced schedule. The Yankees would always open up the 1st week or so of the season out in Anaheim, Oakland, Seattle, or Texas.

the exception would have to be Cincinnati. Until recent years when MLB became hellbent on playing regular season games outside the country, opening day would always commence in Cincinnati. And it should always be that way.
