Re: Collusion
Investigating collusion when anyone can easily see why Bonds has no job is laughable and a waste of time. Collusion is tough to prove, and is a stupid policy for a serious league to use to blackball players. They never touched Bonds when he was playing the last couple of years, although they could have done something for the "good of the game". But now the union thinks the league conspired to blackball him with dark room meetings between every MLB owner.Comment

Re: Collusion
I'm serious as I have no idea...and also how much would Bonds be asking for?
PLUS...for 21 years....he had no problem getting some pretty big contracts(albeit from just two teams)....and NOW there is collusion!?

Re: Collusion
However, you are the one that is being completely blind on this issue. Bonds is done. He's over 40, declining, and on bad knees, while also asking for a Bonds sized contract. He's a DH at best, when obviously no AL teams want him right now. It's only weeks into the season, and if he keeps working out, he may find a job eventually on the right team if a big injury happens or something.
There's numerous reasons as to why Bonds isn't signed, and being blackballed by a collusion plan from the owners is way down the list of rational reasons.Comment

Re: Collusion
Yeah.. collusion too that Piazza wasn't signed!!!
At this point, he's a HR or bust type hitter, and a below average OF -- oh, and his age might have something to do with it too..
And I guarantee, he's probably had his "say" in any deal a team might try to make him..Comment

Re: Collusion
The whole argument about collusion is silly. You can make the argument that any player who goes unsigned is being colluded against. Reggie Sanders, Jose Mesa, Eric Milton, Rodrigo Lopez, Preston Wilson, Antonio Alfonseca, Roberto Hernandez, Corey Koskie...all being colluded against. The union should do something about this travesty.Comment

Re: Collusion
I'm not sure what they can do, but this isn't a rare occurrence. The MLBPA files these type of grievances for players that haven't been signed every year.Comment

Re: Collusion
and none of those other over 40 players bring the same trash Bonds will bring on day one. Bonds is done because he simply cannot produce for the amount of money he wants and crap a team would need to put up with to have him around. As explained everywhere else, he's only AL material now, and DH at that. I suppose he could be considered if an injury happens or if a team is desperate enough, but it's still only the first week of May.

Re: Collusion
I am in the same boat as everyone else that this collusion is laughable. If he's not signed, he's not signed. There should not be any investigation or force for any team to sign him.
At the same time, I do think it's unfair that he hasn't been signed by a team like Seattle at this point. That's my own personal opinion, and my reasons are as good as any. Aside from the negative distractions, he will probably once again still lead the world in OBP and attract at least 5,000 more fans a game on average (probably more). His domination at the plate is bar none a good reason for just five more months of playing time as well as a shot at 3,000 career hits.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
