Makes the return we got for him even better than it already was.

      Re: Miguel Tejada

I just watched the clip for the first time.

This is pretty bush league by ESPN. They are turning into Chris Hansen and Dateline by ambushing someone to get a story.

The better story would've been to go to the D.R. and find out why potential baseball players (or athletes) are being directed to lie about their age. Then they could've approached Tejada and others for comment.

      ESPN is sad.

My thoughts exactly, watching it and all I kept thinking was ESPN has somehow sunk to even lower levels. I dont really have any problems with the story, and I can see why it would be an issue, but the way they went about it is where I have the problem.

It's a big deal IMO. Players age effects their contract and how long and how much a team will give a player.

Agreed. Complete ambush. You heard Miguel say, "We not suppossed to be talking about this." I have zero respect for that type of "journalism".

ESPN is trying to be like 60 Minutes back in the day when they did real gonzo investigative stories. The main difference is this, 60 Minutes back then actually did background about the issue THEN ambushed the people they were looking to expose. If they were doing this story back then they'd have done it in much the way that Squint described it.

ESPN's been taking a beating over this, and deservedly so. This is what happens when you start to think that you're the end-all, be-all of sports journalism...

                      Re: Miguel Tejada

They did this for their E:60 show, which is basically a 60 minutes show about sports topics. I have no problem with this. Tejada wasn't going to tell anybody, he only did it after being asked about it. It is illegal to fake legal documents, lie about material information that would have effects on a contract, etc. Tejada came off sounding like an idiot, he should of either told the truth, or shut up and leave.

This affects more than just him. This affects all the other players that get cut because Tejada lied about his age. That 17 yr old player that didn't get a chance because Tejada was better because he had 2 more years to learn, that guy in the minors who Tejada took his spot, etc.

How do we know what ESPN has done with the story. We have only seen the interview, I'm sure they have done their research and gone to the source of the problem. Their "news" style programs are usually good, I liked Outside the Lines.

Comparing Outside the Lines to this trash is insulting to one of the few programs they have left that possesses any integrity whatsoever.

Honestly, I'm surprised that OTL hasn't gotten axed by now. It isn't nearly loud enough, or ignorant enough, to run with the rest of the **** B!SPN is producing.

I agree. The ambush technique they used was bad.

First I had already assumed that a lot of the Dominacin players had lied about their age so not a big deal to me. And the 17yr old story is a reach because what it affected one maybe two players...give me a break had they been good enough they would have been taken by someone.

ESPN was in the wrong big time for this.

Bring back CNN Sports! Does anyone remember that all sports channel?

I don't know, I'm no lawyer, but he signed multi-million dollar contracts by leading GMs to believe he was two years younger than he actually is. You have to think that's some sort of fraud.

Imagine spending $20,000 on what was claimed to be a new 2008 car, only to realize a few months later it's actually a 2006 with an extra 20,000 miles on it.
