It is illegal to fake legal documents, lie about material information that would have effects on a contract, etc. Tejada came off sounding like an idiot, he should of either told the truth, or shut up and leave.

This affects more than just him. This affects all the other players that get cut because Tejada lied about his age. That 17 yr old player that didn't get a chance because Tejada was better because he had 2 more years to learn, that guy in the minors who Tejada took his spot, etc.

How do we know what ESPN has done with the story. We have only seen the interview, I'm sure they have done their research and gone to the source of the problem. Their "news" style programs are usually good, I liked Outside the Lines.
You're missing the point. Exposing the fraud isn't what made ESPN low class. It was the way they exposed it. It was absolutely underhanded to invite the guy for an interview on false pretenses. They should have told him the subject matter. Instead, they wanted to spring a surprise on him in order to gain attention for themselves.

If this was a government official abusing the public trust, I wouldn't mind the tactic. Because then it would need to be exposed like that in order to prevent a coverup & continued corruption. But this is between Tejada & the Astros. Pass it on to the Houston organization? OK. Print an article in their mag? No problem w/that. Lure him in & hit him w/a sneak attack? That's appalling.

They can use this against him, but it depends on who he lied too. I thought I heard some where that his passport has his correct birth date on it.

You could get some money back from him if they wanted to sue him. They would easily win because he committed fraud by entering into the contract, it would just be hard to determine how much damages they could get.

That's taking it a bit far.

          A. I don't see why a contract would have a player's age in it.

          B. The Astros traded for his contract (after they knew he was in the Mitchell Report). They didn't sign him to it.

Part of me suspects management knew about it anyway. You think ESPN just sends some ol' reporter down to the D.C. and dig up this information and teams that are spending hundreds of millions of dollars don't have some sort of investigative team doing the same?

Everyone knows the implied risk in signing Latin American players.

It's a big joke around the majors on how old El Duque, Livan, Julio Franco, etc. are. So why did this d-bag on E:60 feel the need to ambush Miggy like this? A Latino player lying about his age – gasp! – what next, players lying about injuries?

Give me a friggin' break. MLB teams knowingly sign 16 year old foreigners and falsify documents stating that they are older. Why the surprise then when a player lies and says that he is younger?
Overall satisfaction also makes the decline!!!!!!!!!!!!
