Frank Thomas released by Blue Jays!

After asking for more plate appearances Thomas is asked to clean out his locker. Was watching ESPNEWS and they just announced it. He had a .167 average, 3 home-runs, 11 RBI, and 13 Strikeouts. Very confused about this one.

he'll be on a team very quickly ... and barry bonds will still be looking for a job.

Opportunity looks like it is about to be called for Bonds... then suddenly it's the only team that still hosts in Canada that released a player.

I don't know if the guy is allowed to leave the country or not.

I don't think they are going to sign Bonds. I would be stunned.

Even more stunned then I already am to see that Thomas was released.

This franchise is ****ed with JP. Godfrey continues to give him full support. What a freaking joke this franchise has become.

He started slow last year and was our best player down the stretch. This is mind boggling and just STUPID.

something more must have happened here.. I know yesterday Gibbons told him he would be benched due to his bad start.. Thomas was angry at that -- so something else had to have gone on for this to happen a day latter

Wow. I think the Mariners would probably be the best fit for him right now. Either them or the Rays.

Re: Frank Thomas released by Blue Jays!

It was all about money. If Thomas reached a certain amount of plate appearences this year then his vesting option of $10 million would have kicked into plus. That is the real reason he was benched, not because of a slow start.

Alot of guys are off to a slow start. It's APRIL and you're dealing with PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL PLAYERS. These people getting their panties in a knot, going into panic mode really need to smoke a doobie or something and chill.

What happened is that the Blue Jays don't want to give him 10 million next year. I'm sure he'll catch on somewhere, though I don't know who is looking for a right-handed DH at the moment.

That was the story I heard on the radio yesterday; if he got like 376 (?) plate appearances, then he was gonna collect some long money... Sounds like Gibbons might have been getting his marching orders from upstairs. I'm sure Hurt would love to sign with another AL East team just to torment Toronto on a regular basis.

I think its a good move, you don't want an angry Frank Thomas on your team.

Barry would be a good fit now
