    Guys,
You really close ranks when someone spits negatives about HH. I agree with him in a lot of areas. This game is the same game as HH 2002. It has terrible ball physics, crazy pitches, and the layout is horrible. I'm one step ahead of the guy that started this thread, though. I got $43.00 for HH via eBay. It is heading out my door this week.

Everyone has their game. HH is like all others in that it isn't perfect. However, it gets tiring when the same username is posting the same negative things about a game on different message boards. I can't stand ASB, but I haven't wrote 1 negative thing about the game on the ASB thread. That's the only reason I made my remark.

Allow others to make their own decisions about a game instead of constantly posting all the negatives about a certain game on that games thread. There's a point where it becomes "trolling" instead of trying to be informative.

Just check out www.highheat2004.net and do a search on AIverson and you'll see what I'm talking about.

          Re: Very Dissapointed with HH2004!

Hey all...I actually want to apologize for being so hard on HH '04. I came home from work today and spent quite a bit of time w/ both HH and ASB. I have changed my tune.

What changed my mind in ASB was the constant ilogical flight of the ball of the bat. I have the game on the medium level and can't explain how this happens. I will throw a hard fastball low and away, and the computer pulls the ball out of the yard. Now this may happen to a rookie pitcher out of the minors against Bonds, but I was pitching w/ Hudson! I also happen to Zito right after that. These guys aren't Hall of Famers, but they know what they are doing. This type of gameplay really ruins it for me. I think I remember why I got pissed at ASB '02.

Now, to HH '04. I came home and have played 3 games in a row. I guess time w/ the game (and this isn't much time) can be a huge eye opener. Once I tweaked a few things (mainly the views) I started to really enjoy the game. Keep in mind, this game seems very awkward at first. It's hard to explain, but I would say to anyone that isn't liking to game, to stick w/ it.

I am going to rent MVP and WSB, but for now HH (actually own it) is a great choice.

The keys when I look at a baseball game is fun factor and long lasting appeal. HH has both. It just takes a little bit of getting used to and a little bit of tweaking on the sliders.

Posting to two forums might make him a little more annoying to YOU but I personally see absolutely no problem with it. They are public forums and their purpose is to inform as well as to create discussion. If he's informing two boards instead of one then personally I see that as him being twice as giving to the community.

His opinion doesn't make him a troll, and cross-board posting doesn't make him a troll.

Now, on the other hand, I have to say to AIverson that the fact that the animations aren't as seamlessly produced as WSB's is less important to me than how the image they present. The models and animations I've watched for High Heat look like a lot more authentic than some of the WSB ones which, although seamless, sometimes come across as oddly robotic to me (pitchers, for example). It gives me a bad impression of the players and the atmosphere of the game.

I will also be happy if it turns out that High Heat's animations don't mess up certain plays, which definitely happens in some games. I'd rather have simplified animation routines that are "out of the way" than complex ones that are intrusive.

This'll be my first year to try High Heat, and I'm more gameplay-oriented than some people, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a good experience.

I have to agree with AI on this one. As I have played many a baseball game in my day, (44 year old gamer here!) I cannot understand the lure of HighHeat. It is proclaimed as the holy grail of baseball games, but I just don't see it. In my estimation it is the poorest graphical representation of a baseball game of all released this year. I will give it its due for the attempts by 3DO to bring it into next-gen status. But they are still far far below the bar that has been RAISED this year with WSB/MVP. I wish I could see why people AND game reviewers rave about HH. It's as if I am looking at one of those 3D mosaic posters where EVERYONE can see the pirate ship loaded with winged pigs hidden inside a colored maze of dots and lines! Try as I might... with squinted eyes... tilted head.... diverted vision... I sitll can't see the damn thing! Or maybe....... it's just not there.

                      Re: Very Dissapointed with HH2004!

Bubba - With High Heat, it's never been about the graphics. It's about the gameplay. The AI makes the right moves at the right times. They'll intentionally walk guys to setup a double play or play the lefty-righty matchup etc... That's why I enjoy this game. I want the computer AI to be as intelligent about baseball strategy and statistics as I am. That's what HH gives me.

However, I will say that 3DO does need to pick it up if they plan to continue the HH series. Most people prefer better graphics over gameplay. I'm waiting to see how WSB will be on PS2. If it can compete with HH's gameplay then I might make a change...

It is there you just have to look with a different perspective. Those who see HH as being less than average are looking for pretty pictures but those who see HH as great are looking for baseball in the form of a video game.

Some rate their oohs and aahs on shadows, mascots, bright colors, 14 uniforms, balls bouncing around the stadium, old timers, walk up music, ect....

Some rate their oohs and aahs on walks, k's, scoring from second on a base hit, AI taking chances on the basepaths, realistic results from simming, errors, good days and bad days, competition from the AI ect....

                          It is all about perspective.

Why isn't everyone a Cardinal fan like me?

High Heat got old to me i traded mine in for WSB2k3 and love it good graphics gameplay sound animations and real smooth and the deepest franchise ever plus espn license which is way cool. They do need a huge graphical overhall they just arent really improving on the HH series anymore its getting dated. HH is still a great game but now i prefer wsb2k3 which i beleive is the best baseball game/sim on the market.
