    Krivsky fired

Report: Krivsky fired after less than three years

    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3363283

He will be replaced by Walt Jocketty, who previously was the general manager of the St. Louis Cardinals, and who came to Cincinnati this season as special advisor to the president and CEO of the Reds.

We all knew this was coming, but why now?

I have that same question. I figured they'd at least give him until the end of the year. Krivsky was a helluva lot better than Dan-O. Not sure if he deserved to get canned so quickly. Be interesting to see what all is said by ownership and whatnot. Something had to have triggered this.

With all that talent Cincy has stockpiled and now getting a great baseball mind in Walt Jocketty. The Reds will be a team to watch over the next couple of years.

          Re: Krivsky fired

Although Krivsky caught a lot of heat from some of his trades I still liked him and the deals he made. He wasn't afraid to make a deal because some idiots on talk radio wouldnt approve. The heat he got from the Kearns and Lopez deal was rediculous. Neither of them would be starting on this current Reds team and although Majewksi and Bray both have been plagued by injuries atleast Bray is still a young arm with promise and has been ripping up at the AAA level on his rehab stint. He also caught a lot of heat for trading Hamilton to Texas.....where are those people who were ripping him for that deal now? Volsquez has been GREAT. However, even though I liked Krivsky and guess I cant complain with Jocketty taking over. Hes built previous winners and would like to see what he can do with the current level of talent the Reds have.

First thing Jocketty needs to do is fire Baker's stupid arse.

              Re: Krivsky fired

There has been a lot of stuff coming out about Krivsky all day today, some of which I had never heard before, and speculation as to what all led to his downfall:

              - He didn't share any info with Jocketty
              - He was very paranoid about sharing info with anyone (media, his own people, etc.)
              - He was very difficult to work with
              - Bad contracts signed with Rheal Cormier, Mike Stanton, Ryan Freel, Corey Patterson, etc. They paid the first two over $3 million just to leave
              - Scouts left because of the way he was

The more I've thought about all of this, the more ticked off I get, especially about the scouts leaving. Johnny Almarez was a long-time Reds scout who discovered Johnny Cueto. Well, he got fed up trying to work with Krivsky and quit. The Braves ended up hiring him, which says a lot about how highly he was thought of in the baseball world. I'm honestly not sorry he's gone after everything I've heard today.

As long as he doesn't have people working for him and he's working for someone (Minaya) he'll probably do fine. Just some of the stuff I heard about him was just bizarre. He sounded paranoid about sharing info and people hated working for him. The Reds lost some good scouts because of the way he is.
