Ok since you have to push up to hit a fly ball, down to hit a grounder. my question is if you have a low pitch and you swing down at it will it alway be a grounder or can it be a fly ball to, you know what i mean just because a ball is low in the strike zone and you swind down at it doesnt mean it should be a ground ball all the time.

You don't have to use your analog stick to hit the ball you can just use the A button for a normal hit. Instead of trying to hit where the ball is pitched. So, if the ball is pitched low just use the A button.The DuCross Brothers: Sports Internet Talk Show

Something you may want to try taking a look at is the video on EA's website about the Hitting/Pitching Tutorial. It looks pretty hot...only thing is it requires QuickTime.
