    The batting systems .......try this

I experimenting with the different cursors in the game for batting. I like the classic cursor but can't seem to pull the ball down the lines. I went into pratice mode , and used Jason Giambi with the classic cursor and mo matter how early I would swing I still could not pull the ball down the line with this cursor. I had it on meatball over the plate , I even held swing button while the pitcher was in his wind up so giambi would swing immediately , you cant swing any earlier , the game wont let you, and I still could not pull the ball down the line at all. Hmmm. Strange. Last year righties could not pull the ball either. Seems this is evident with the classic cursor this year. ( Why ! ) In the normal cursor mode I had no problem pulling the ball down the lines at all. Actually this mode seems to be able to let yu hit the ball whereever you want to precise. Thats why I like the clasic cursor mode , but now I am disappointed. Am I doing something wrong. Seems to me Acclaim messed up again. Last year how could they impliment that righty batting problem , and now this year the same problem exists with the classic cursor. ( Upsetting ) Too bad because I really love this game .

I haven't tried the zone or easy batting mode yet, I kind of like th cursor system actually. Like in real life you have to aim the bat as well as time it.

I read the book , but I can't tell what is the difference between zone and easy batting ? somebody please help ....

I think easy is simply timing-based. No direction system at all. Just swing when it comes in, whereas zone you can still aim high/low, in/out, etc.

I have this same problem with zone hitting. I've played over a dozen games, and I have yet to hit one down the lines, either pulling or swinging late. Every time I make contact it goes somewhere in the center 1/3 of the field.

This item is enough to negate all the great other things this game has and does. The batter/pitcher interface is the central part of a baseball game. I think the added modes of hitting were just tacked on without much thought as a way to impress us with "4 different ways of batting".

Have you guys given the normal cursor a chance? I'm using it, and doing pretty well with it, as far as realism is concerned.

I'm having great success with it. Except I'm not patient to I don't have the right ammount of walks and strikeouts.

I pulled a ball for a homerun down the line with Ryan Klesko last night with classic cursor. Livan Hernandez hung a curve and Klesko jumped on it.

I am able to pull the ball much better with classic. When I used zone 99% of my hits were to the middle of the field.

I used the normal cursor last year and the game became a HR fest. So, this year im giving the classic cursor a go.

So far, 11 games into my Braves franchise, i'm kinda struggling along. My team batting avg is hovering down in the low .200's. I have just yet to have a game where i have rocked an opposing team. I am, however, leading the league in walks with something like 56. While I'm drawing a lot of walks, i think i also lead the league in K's. When i do make contact, I do get a variety of types of hits. But, I do seem to hit a lot of lazy pop flies to the OF.

So far, I'm loving the stats in this game. I had a 3 homer game with Chipper Jones early in the season, but i've been stuck on 4 ever since the 5th game or so. Halfway thru April, the league leader has 5 hr, and the rbi leader has 14. Todd Helton is naturally leading the league so far with a .430 avg.

I'm using Zone batting with exaggerated pitches, and it plays a VERY accurate game of baseball. In fact, I'd go as far to say I get more accurate results like this than I do from High Heat.

I'm 26 games into my Cubs season (not counting the 4-4 tie in the 9th I had going when I had to come to work tonight), and Sammy has 8 homers. I'm averaging three walks a game. That should give you some idea.

Just a fantastic game once you get the settings to your liking.
