I believe they do UNLESS you have a signature on file.
If you don't just leave a note on door telling them to leave it there...

I've never had to,every time they just leave it at my doorstep and ring the doorbell.

If the worker is familiar with the people on the route they may just leave it on the porch. The guy that has the UPS route for my neighborhood always puts the package in the corner on the porch so no one can see it when they walk by. He just knocks on the door and leaves the package.

In my area (MI), UPS leaves the package at the door and Fed EX has always required a signature.

I don't know why I never thought of leaving a note

I'll have to try that this year.

Leave a note ! Better safe than sorry. I have got home anxious to play a game and had some damn piece of paper on the door saying they would try again the next day.
