I honestly can't believe that time has really flown by THAT fast.

It was by dumb luck that I actually got to see that game in it's entirety. And yeah it's tough to believe that was that long ago.

This topic makes me feel awfully old.

That was one of the most dominating performances i've ever seen by a pitcher. It's a shame that it may be the biggest thing that Kerry Wood is known for when his career is all said and done.

It's weird that in a few months it will also have been ten years since Mark McGwire hit 70 home runs, Barry Bonds reached 400/400, and Cal Ripken broke the consecutive games played streak.

That was to this day, the most dominant pitching performance I have ever seen. I still think it should have been a no-hitter. That grounder to Orie should have been ruled an error.

What could have been. It's a shame that his career has gone the way it has. Orie was a good defensive player so he normally makes that play. If he did it would have been a 20 K perfect game.

Who knows if we will ever see that combination of electric fastball and slurve/curve we saw from Wood that day. This will always be his day.

I think that ball should definitely have been ruled a hit, but my God he had some movement on those pitches.

I had read about Wood in a preseason baseball mag and he had made a few starts to begin the year. I was home this day and decided to check out the game on WGN...to this day the most dominating pitching performance I've witnessed and I agree that it should have been an error on Orie. That was a solid Houston offense and he made them look helpless...it really was fun to watch.

As dominating as that performance was, if he had that exact same performance today, he wouldn't have had more than maybe 12 strikeouts. Looking at some of the called strike three pitches, it seems as though he was helped quite a bit by the umpire. Knowing that, he would have to bite more plate more often.

Another underlooked performance that day was by Reynolds (whoever that was). Also threw a complete game with 10 strikeouts.

I remember watching this game as well, hard to believe it was a decade ago.
