What's with all of these Cardinal fans jumping the gun one month into the season. Cardinal fans are usually better than that.
I am a HUGE Cardinals fan. I have family in St. Louis and have been going to games since the McGee/Ozzie Smith eras. That being said, I am realistic. This team is overachieving big time. I credit the Cards play to the coaching staff and organization. Larussa and Duncan are doing an incredible job but at some point talent is going to catch up. I'm also worried about Pujol's elbow giving any day.
Carpenter won't be back until August at the earliest. He is a legit ace but I don't think he will have much of an effect on the Cards getting into the playoffs. I'm also not that excited about Mulder returning. He hasn't done anything in St. Louis and he just got lit up in a minor league start.
Ankiel is batting cleanup. That should tell you something about this teams talent. I never give up on the Cardinals but it will be a miracle if they make the playoffs. I expected them to contend for last in the division with the Pirates.
