AFAIK, most HDTV sets won't support 720p natively -- most will upconvert the signal to 1080i, while others (like my Sony 46") will downconvert to 480p.

You should go ahead and enable 720p support in the XBox dashboard, and let the TV convert the signal. You'll know you're looking at a 720p signal (either native or converted) if you can't change the aspect ratio.

My Panasonic 47-inch widescreen has the same problem Sportman_d mentioned. I enabled the 720p signal for the Xbox, but the television is now displaying a screen full of random lines. It won't upconvert the Xbox 720p signal.

Are there any ideas on how to pull in this 720p signal? My HD box for my DirecTV has no component inputs, and it sounds like this game is exponentially better with the 720p.

Hey Thadeus, any chance of me seeing the game running on the dlp? I am seriously considering buying the 43 inch dlp from sammy but haven't seen any xbox high def sources yet! Would be very much appreciated if anybody could put up some screens of the game running in HD ! :-)

Angrysponge, I think you would be very happy with the Samsung. I was also curious how X-Box games would look on the this t.v. I have only played 3 games on it, but they all look great. I would post a pic, but I am not sure how to.

FatPitcher, one more question please. Is the 480p mode actually 16:9? It looks stretched to me (surprisingly), and I've seen several other people say they are absolutely positive that 480p is not displaying as 16:9 but stretched 4:3 instead, even though they have 480p enabled in the dashboard. I know that sounds crazy, but could you please clarify one way or the other? 720p is the way I'm playing, and it's definitely 16:9, but I know two other people who are trying to find out about 480p mode. Thanks.
