Re: If President George Bush where starting a team he would pick...
Halladay is a fantastic pick...if he played in a market like New York, Boston, or Chicago he'd probably be considered one of if not the best. Having said that, with his injury history I'd probably take Webb and Hanley Ramirez to start my team."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. Re: If President George Bush where starting a team he would pick...
His first injury was a freak accident where his leg got broken by a line drive. The 2nd time he missed significant time was because he had an appendixtomy. (sp) That's not something that affects his stuff as a pitcher with his arm. It's a fairly common thing that a lot of people go through.
If you took out the leg injury, Halladay would probably have 2 Cy Young awards by now.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: If President George Bush where starting a team he would pick...
An answer like that shows the guy really knows the game. Utley is too often overlooked with prolific power at second, and Halladay is the surest thing for a deep, quality start in the game today.
Politics aside, if Kerry got in, his answer would have been Manny Ortiz.Comment

Re: If President George Bush where starting a team he would pick...
I've always been a big Halladay fan. Up until last year, I always said he was the best right-hander in the AL until Beckett passed him. He looks like he'll regain that title this year though. I'd probably still take Beckett over him though just because of his age and postseason resume.
For hitter, I like Utley and Hanley Ramirez is awesome, but just to be different I'll go with David Wright. Great bat, young, and good defense at a position that isn't really deep right now in baseball. There are a number of ways you could with this question though.Comment
