Hey Matt (relates to range of batted balls)

I also posted this in another topic, but . . .

What options do you use in ASB (assuming you still play it)? I use the normal batting xursor, and to be honest, I really didn't keep track until the conversations started, but I seem to be hitting balls all over the field.

Last nght, with the Cubs' Tom Goodwin, I hit two doubles right down the right field line. I mean, they had to land to see if they were going to be fair or foul. Both were inside pitches, and I timed both very well I guess.

I have heard that classic, zone, and easy batting is lacking in this regard, but normal seems to do the trick. I can completely understand your concern about realism, but I think that the normal cursor solves the problem. It seems to then be entirely dependent upon physics.

First, let me say thanks foran intelligent response.

The problems I am having is with classic and zone batting. I'm sure the normal batting is fine, but personally I can't use it. I just don't like all that stuff on the screen when batting. Reminds me too much of missle command.

It sounds like the normal mode (if you can handle it), works perfectly. I just really wish the same could be said for the other batting modes, because the game does have a lot of nice qualities about it. Sadly, this one problem is enough to drive me away from it.

I love the game, but you're right. If I didn't use the normal cursor, the game would be pretty much worthless.

If you use the normal cursor are never use the right thumbstick to tilt it, do you still get hits down the lines? I could (maybe) live with the normal cursor if I didn;t have to adjust the angle of it. The aiming aspect is just too unrealistic for me.

I flatly refuse to use the right thumbstick. I go entirely with my aiming of the cursor. I believe the pitches to Goodwin were on the inner half, and I just didn't get the cursor over the entire ball. I timed it well, so he made good contact, but because my aim was "outside" of the ball, it went down the RF line.

So maybe there is hope? I'll give it a try with the normal cursor. Do you get HRs, deep drives and grounders all from this method?

Thanks man. This could save rhe game for me.

Re: Hey Matt (relates to range of batted balls)

I play on all-star while I pitch, and either veteran or rookie while I hit (not that good a hitter).

Doing this seems to liven up the pace of all ground balls (especially if I hit on rookie) so that more double plays are turned. Plenty of grounders, too, both from myself and the CPU (just keep the ball down). With the CPU on all-star, the ball traveled fast enough I was even able to double up faster p[layers.

In addition, I get deep drives and home runs. I usually have to have the power swing on to do it, but I have seen a couple home runs and deep fly balls without having it on.

Also, I suggest editing all the pitcher range and glove ratings to D-. That really seems to help neutralize the pitchers so they don't catch everything.

This all said, I just got WSB, and it's pretty cool, too. I also like HH. Good problem to have I guess, but I just have problems figuring out which one to play. I have a feeling that in the end ASB or WSB will be my choice--HH is a little too dry, and the other games seem realistic enough.

Matt, I had this problem with Zone hitting, but I switched to classic cursor last night and pulled at least two balls right down the lines. Classic cursor was much better than zone in the fact that I hit the ball all over the field now.
