Can't believe this hasn't generated more talk....

    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3401868

I guess people in general are so tired of the subject of steroids that this story has been ignored. But I think this a really important issue.

Feds obtained the results of tests that were suppossed to be kept confidential. Yes, there maybe a noble cause for getting the tests. & certainly the fact the players were doing something illegal would make one unsympathetic to the players' privacy.

But how does the law expect cooperation from the public if an agreement to confidentiality & privacy is overruled & circumvented?

    That's my feeling right there.

Is it an issue? Of course it is. But I'm so sick of it controlling TV that I'd rather just, actually, watch baseball.

I hadn't even heard of it until you posted this.

Like Longhorn said, I'm pretty much just sick of it and would rather just watch baseball instead of see steroids talk on TV all the time.

Honestly...It's about time for some gustapo tactics, and put aside this whole cloak and dagger game.

Hopefully those tests are 100% proof that Clemens and Bonds did take steriods so that I don't have to sit here and listen to them lie, and refute everything and contradict themselves even more.

I'm all for this. If the players who tested positive try to lie their way out of things then they'll be in huge trouble. I'd rather have my name out there for the record when the feds charge my dealer(s) rather then lie and then possibly face legal trouble down the line.

It's sad that the US Government is taking this far more seriously then MLB.

The Mitchell report kind of ruined all the steroids stuff for me. I didnt feel it was a earth shattering as it was made out to be.

its because everyone still wants to hang barry bonds and only barry bonds for steriods

steriods situation behind the scenes in baseball in still a joke

Yeah because people like Roger Clemens have been completely ignored. Gimme a break.

While I agree w/that statement, I don't see how that is relevant to the current issue. Every baseball player who tested positive has been compromised by the gov's action.

compared to Barry's situation yes it has been "ignored" and still thats the only player you can even TRY to compare with how to Media ****s on Bonds (I don't care how he treats them, they are reporters they should report facts not their opinions) theres been hundreds on players POSITIVELY identified as users and they are playing + not talked about + not discriminated against as much as Bonds

true but what impact has the government actually done? not one player has been charged and seems the only things they are doing is releasing names of players who were told their names wouldn't be released. Before that they probed in to the BALCO and blew it open and then for some stupid reason they decide to go after the PLAYERS? doesnt make any sense to me, they knew what they needed and shut it down, no reason to go after MLB players.

plus the general public doesnt really care about the gov. its more about what the ******* media tells them

Again, I don't see how all that is prevalent to the current issue. Players gave their consent on the condition of privacy & now that has been breached.

What precedent could that set? What if there was a survey taken on teenager promiscuity, w/the assurance that the info would not be revealed, & the government seized & used it? Or how about a study on whether a person ever saw an underaged nude or a website w/an anti-American slant on the internet? Someone answers honestly that they accidently saw it & the government takes that & links you to child porn or al-Queeda.

I don't like where that road takes us.
