When you put you are on rookie mode... that changed the whole scenario completely... they give you more meat pitches on rookie mode.

Re: Still can\'t buy a walk in this game!
Heh.
Just got done with a marathon session of gameplaying and testing as the St. Louis Cardinals. In 15 nine inning games played on All Star difficulty with custom sliders set:
12 Homeruns. (Rolen 3, Edmonds, Drew, Pujols, and Tino with 2 each, and Renteria with one.) (I suspect that number might be a little low, as I was facing a lot of #1 type starters; in one game we roughed up the Pirates relief corps for four HR in the 7th and 8th at PNC)
22 Walks (Pujols and Edmonds tied with 3 each, Martinez, Rolen, Vina, Renteria, and Matheny with 2 each, a bunch of other folks with one apiece)
Walks are fairly easy to get, once you start to get things down.
I have fanned cpu batters to the tune of 5.5 per 9 innings. Matty Mo by far leads this stat, although Woody and Tomko managed a couple of good games. Of these k's, 1.67 per were recorded as "caught looking" strikeouts. That seems a bit low, still experimenting with this CPU slider.
If you can't get any walks in the game, it's because you're either playing over your head in difficulty, or you lack the patience to get a feel for things. I didn't earn a walk until the fourth game I played. The advice of not swinging until the CPU has at least one strike on you is very sound.Comment

Re: Still can\'t buy a walk in this game!
I have'nt tried WSB or MVP yet I'm waiting for the local rental stores to get them, but I love high heat so much because all these little nuances like drawing walks, striking out hitters are there and balanced in High Heat. And when you manipulate the sliders and the sim level you can actually see diffeent results on the field. My problem in HH right now is a balanced offense < I can't seem to generate any. So I think more tweaking in that area is in need.Comment
