Can I edit lineups and pitching rotations?
No. If you want to edit lineups and rotations, you should start a season with your roster, take control of all 30 teams, and edit lineups and rotations as you see fit. You can then continue editing rosters within Season mode (Setup -> Edit Rosters) or save your season and load it as a roster file from the Roster Manager.
How do I use custom rosters in Exhibition/Season/Franchise/Playoffs?
If you just finished creating them, SAVE! If you don’t, there’s a good chance you’ll lose your changes later on. Once you’ve saved, simply exit to the main menu, then start whatever mode you want to use the rosters in. To use this custom roster in the future, load it from the Roster Manager each time you go into a new mode.
Can I use rosters from my Franchise Mode for Exhibition games?
Yes. From the Roster Manager, load your saved Franchise game as a roster, then exit to the Main Menu and play. This technique works for other modes as well.
I loaded a custom roster, but now I want to go back to playing Exhibition games with the normal teams!
Load MLB Roster (Roster Menu) will do the trick. Make sure you’ve saved any roster changes you want to be able to load in the future.
Can I use my custom rosters in Big League Challenge!
No, you can’t.
I can’t use my custom rosters in Sega Sports Challenge! When will Sega learn?
Cheater!
How do I add a created player to my roster/team?
Import Player from the Roster menu. Edit Roster, then press L Trigger/L1 to bring up the Free Agent list. If your player is a pitcher, he is on this list. Press the X/Square button to switch to the list of batters. Select your player, press the A/X button to bring up the commands menu, select Move Player to another team, and choose the correct team.
What’s the difference between players with white text and those with gray text?
White = major league roster, gray = minor leaguer.
What does Edit Player do? Can’t I edit all my ratings from the main screen?
Edit Player allows you to edit ratings and attributes not displayed on the main editing screen: name, age, potential, stance, windup, pitch selection, etc.
Can’t I just edit all the rosters to give myself a super team in Franchise Mode?
Yes. Cheater.
I made Barry Bonds a light-hitting shortstop! Ha!

I can’t turn Pitchers into Batters or Batters into Pitchers?

I was editing John Novak's name and the game froze! Argh?
Yes, argh. Here's the list of players that cause the problem:
John Novak - White Sox
Wes Helms - Brewers
Mike Kinkade - Dodgers
Here's the workaround: in the Roster Editor, select the player, press A, and choose Edit Player like normal. On the Vital Stats screen, change position to First Baseman and edit whatever else you want. Finish editing by pressing Start until you end up at the Roster Editor screen again. Edit the player again and change him back to his original position.
