Cordero is only 33 and will be fine in 3 years from now, he has been lights out for the Reds this year and we are glad to have him.
There is no way Cordero will be washed up half way through his contract in 2 years!
It is ok to admit or be mad that your team made the wrong decision, I do it with the Reds all the time.(Corey Patterson)
You don't judge a 4 year decision after 2 months.

Cordero is a good closer but most closers don't last that long. It's not out of the question that Cordero can still be good the next few years but it's far from a guarantee. Closers usually lose it pretty quickly, it's not always a slow steady decline.

33 is passed what are generally the prime years of your career. I think it's more likely than not that by the end of his deal the Reds are going to have a very bad contract on their hands. If he's really good for 2 years and the Reds win something maybe it's worth it, but maybe it's not.

Gagne has been a failure but it's a one year failure. It sucks but they can move on from it quickly. Gagne was a bad signing but it's too early to say that passing on Cordero was a bad move.

Homer Bailey is not in AAA getting groomed. He is in AAA because he has no control. Believe me if the Reds even thought Bailey could be a productive starter right now, he would be in Cincy not Louisville.

But the same could be said for you, because you're a reds fan(I am too) you could just believe that he'll be fine in a couple years. I really don't try to predict what's gonna happen with him because who knows? Anything could happen, he could suck, he could dominate, we just have to wait to see.

The Reds will dominate sooner rather than later. The amount of young talent they have is disgusting.

Dusty screwed up the other day in that 18 inning loss by using Volquez and Harang. You all saw what happened to Aaron last night I do think Dusty realizes his mistake, but doesn't he have scouting reports (and data) that show that Harang traditionally does not do well on short rest? I don't care if the Cubs and Cardinals have the most wins in the NL Central, because the Reds really haven't done anything to date and they are NOT out of it. EE has struggled mightily, as has the aging Griffey. When Keppinger gets back and the bullpen begins to stabilize the team is going to be near or at the top of the NL Central. They have had A LOT of close loss, IIRC.

Being near the top of NL Central and having a cake walk through the NL Central is two different things.

I love the enthusiasm, man. Just keep your expectations a bit low. They have talent. If they get consistency out of their pitching and offense, as well as string together some winning streaks, especially against their divisional opponents, they could be in the hunt this year. I'm not really expecting them to do much damage this season. I'll enjoy watching them try though. 2009 and/or 2010, if they keep the young nucleus together, they should be in the hunt. The Dusty-factor is the part I'm worried about.

They keep saying that he might do for the Reds in '08 what Braun did for the Brewers in '07, but his first week has been absolutely ridiculous. The kid has to be on cloud nine.

The bullpen in the past 10 games or so has been awesome, whip under 1. How Dusty can even THINK of putting Patterson in the lineup borders on insanity. Does he have a personal relationship with Corey or something? Anyway, Jay Bruce has renewed my childhood interest in collecting baseball cards. I'm going to start buying Topps and Fleer packs again.
