So Which is the BEST game this year....

I bought ASB2004 for the XBox last weekend, and I normally like tradin' in games and such. But for the first time in a while, I'm keeping my first buy.

So to help out with mine and other gamers buying decision, which do you think is the best game and why?

No fanboys please...


I think ASB2004 is the best game this year, but it's the only one I've played.

Pros - Gameplay is damn near perfect to me. The runners are pretty aggressive IMO.

All the extra stuff adds alot of extra hours to your gaming experience.

Most of the stances are correct

Pitching and Batting are a little difficult, but not impossible. I mean, must of us are hardcore gamers, so we don't want pitching and hitting to be easy. If you play this game for a while, give it some time, pitching won't be all that difficult, and with different hitting levels, you can pick the one just right for you..

The Stadiums are authentic. Acclaim obviously did a good job paying attention to detail.

The graphics are pretty clean. Not WSB, but still very good...

CONS - There are no sliders At least the gameplay is above average, and pretty realistic

A few glitches in this game, such as the 'vaccuum catches'. We all love baseball games, but we shouldn't not buy a game because of this.

Presentation is not for everyone. I personally love the presentaion style in this game, but other people aren't to fond of the 'old-timey' look that this game has.

ASB is a good choice this year, but I still don't know which is the best. I have only played ASB and HH. I still wanna try out WSB and MVP.

My biggest issue w/ ASB was w/ hitting. More than a few times the computer would pull and ball for a homerun that I threw low and outside. It can happen, but it's rare. ASB has good gameplay and we should expect more from a game.

Other than that, I like the was ASB feels. It's "old time" look as you call is perfect. I like the sounds of the game as well.

Once I have a change to play WSB and MVP, I will choose the best baseball game of 2003.

It's neck in neck though...

PS - Have you tried ASB on the GBA? I want a cool handheld baseball game, but don't know much about them (I am getting my first taste of handheld gaming w/ the SP in a few weeks). Anyone know if HH is worth a darn on the GBA? Just going off of reviews, ASB looks to be the leader (on the GBA).

I've played All Star Baseball, High Heat, and now World Series Baseball.

NORMALLY I'm an avid High Heat fan, but this year World Series Baseball finally reclaims the title IMO. What a great friggin game.

Played all five out so far and High Heat seems to be the best. WSB is cool but I am not convinced it will hold my interest that long. MLB2004 is suprisingly good, but I can't score and the CPU can't score and doesn't seem to run the bases well, but I will keep trying.

Am curious, what doesn't WSB bring, that makes you think you'll lose interest?

Also, good to hear MLB is relatively solid. I may have to give it a try.
