    Adrian Gonzalez getting no love

This guy is having a monster year batting .304, he's 3rd in the NL in HR with 17, 1st in NL with 55 RBI, only has 1 error on the season, and not to mention is carrying an entire team on his back (albeit they are in 4th place). Plus he's not even in the top 5 in all star voting for 1B when he is having a better year than all of them besides Berkman. What's even more impressive is that he's putting up these numbers on pretty much the worst offense in the MLB!! Thoughts?

He gets over looked because he plays for one of the worst teams in baseball. The Padres are 14 games under .500, there are only 2 teams with less wins.

I didn't even know he was having that good of year because I haven't heard anything at all about him.

well that, plus he's practically the only guy on the team worth anything at the plate right now. He also didn't get off to a hot start. Take him off that team and they'd probably set a record for lowest runs scored in a season.

Everything that's been said so far is true but that's what makes what he's doing with the crap around him that much more amazing.

Gonzalez will probably make the all star team as a reserve (NL needs a DH so who knows, maybe he could start).

As many have said the Padres are not very good. And they get very little national exposure, which is why he has been overlooked for the most part.

Best way to cure that is if Gonzalez does make the NL team he should take part in the HR Derby. No better way to introduce yourself to the rest of the Baseball world than to take part in HR hitting contest at Yankee Stadium.

He's gotten just about better each year. It's amazing that teams don't just simply walk him. Everyone else in the lineup is either an aged Brian Giles, inconsistent, or doesn't even belong on a major league roster.

Funny how people overlook the fact that he was a #1 overall draft pick by Florida back in 2000. He never really got it working until he came to SD, but the trade to get him was HUGE for the Padres.

                  Padres got:
Adrian Gonzalez - batting .294 with 71 HR and 237 RBI since becoming a Padre
                  Chris Young - 406.1 IP with 20 wins, a 3.46 ERA
                  Termel Sledge

                  Rangers got:
Adam Eaton - 65 IP with 7 wins, and a 5.12 ERA as a Ranger
                  Akinori Otsuka - 92 IP with 36 saves, and a 2.25 ERA

It sucks that he gets so overlooked, but he'll make it to NY.

Same here. He never gets any love. I talk to baseball fans that don't even know who the guy is. Either that or they blurt out that he sucks.

                        I cry for them.

lol... Since this thread started, Gonzo is 2 for 16 with 1 RBI, 1 walk, and 4 K's.

The Padres are 4-0 in that time though!

Yep, I pointed that out earlier.

But it's nice to have a position player finally worth a damn.

This is pretty standard for good players on crappy teams.
