First of all its not a game you play with a controller. You play the role of Manager, GM, etc etc. The game gets so deep that you actually have A, AA, and AAA teams that actually play seasons while you are handling the major league team. You have to worry about ticket prices, fan loyalty, your income from your network broadcast contracts. ..and you mightbe asking me WHY would i care about how much money my team is bringing in?? Well because just like REAL baseball, you pay your players out of your own pocket withthe money you make off the team. So if you are a good business man and know how to make money and profit off your team, there is that much more money next year for you to give those big A-Rodesue contracts to those free agents you want to go after in the off season...and speaking of money, I want to see real dollar amounts in next years and not this point crap..if they can do real money in NFL2k3,they can do it in thier baseball game. How they do the news section and weekly awards is cool because it looks like a newspaper article and they actually write it like that. Just like some reporter is doing a sports section story and your player (if he did something great) is whats getting wrote about. It seems more realistic.
Another cool thing it does that id like to see incorporated into next years WSB is each team's owner has thier own personality. Some owners want to win win win right away and as soon as you show signs of missing the post season, your job might be on the line.
The cool thing about WSB is that it caters to the single player. What I think next years should do like Out Of The Park does this year is it makes the game about YOU as a manager. You take a job with a team with a contract and salary offer and you get new job offers as your manager career progresses. You also age as manager, and your coaching staff under you ages as well. Also...now this is really crazy but cool. In Out of the Park baseball, you as a manager can even get married, have kids, divorce your wife and if you have a child, he might grow up to be playing IN the league when he gets older. Also something that OOTPB5 does is when a player is about to make a career milestone or something great, they will interrupt your game, cut away to the game at hand where this player is. For example if Sosa is up to bat and has 499 career homeruns, they will cut away from your game to where the Cubs are playing and take you to his at bat..it doesnt mean hes going to get his 500th or not at that at bat but it give more of a TV broadcast type feel...but of course you can turn this option on or off.
I would give an arm and a leg if the next WSB could incorporate all the little things that Out Of the Park is doing this year...combine those two games and High Heat will look like a Cold Starter, All Star Baseball will ride the bench, and MVP baseball wont even make it out of the farm system.
