Are any of these games good?

I've been lurking in the baseball forums looking for tidbits that would have me leaning toward a particular game.

I'm getting an odd feeling that neither ASB, WSB, or HH are very good. Seems like a lot of flaws to all three, and I'm sure EA's game will be as well.

Am I wrong here? What game best represents true-to-life baseball?

I only have MVP and it's a blast. From what I've read, each game is good and they are all a little different enough from each other that everyone should find one that suits them. Sure each game probably has some hiccups in it, but you should be able to find one (or more) that you'll enjoy.

        Erod,

I have been doing the same. I have decided to get HH on the XBOX. Mainly because of great gameplay and great pitcher/batter interface.

Re: Are any of these games good?

After pouring throught the latest impressions on all four, MVP seems to be generating the most excitement. Perhaps because it virtually a "new" game, but still.

Seems that the "fun" is more intense with MVP from the posts, which is important in a baseball game because of, well, the nature of baseball.

Anyone out there so far think one of the others outplays MVP by a large margin? And why?

MVP is a great game if you prefer an arcade representation of baseball. The hitting is very simple(timing based only) and the fielding is not very good. Sometimes the catcher at home plate will stand in front of the plate and fail to make the tag for a otherwise easy out. Almost all hits are line drives, too often to the second basemen and short stop. There are no game play sliders or player editor. Overall, MVP is a very shallow arcade representation of baseball, but it is an improvement over TPB.

HH 2004 for the XBOX is the most realistic baseball game with many game play sliders. It has excellent CPU AI and the CPU batting AI in particular is very well done - you set up batters with good pitching and they will swing at balls out of the strike zone. The ball physics are good, but could be better and the pitching is very challenging. This game has no major game play flaws. However, some people have posted that the XBOX version locks up. I have HH2004 and so far it has not locked up.

WSB 2K3 seems to be improved over WSB,but a few issues may remain because some people are reporting that it is still too easy to steal bases. I do not have the game so I cannot verify this observation.

MVP has no sliders, no warm-up pitchers, and the graphics are not on par with wsb either. no sliders imo would automatically scratch the game off.

I've got ASB and i'm having a great time with it, but I like ASB and have bought it the last few years, so i'm probably biased. You should do what I do, which is rent them all and then go from their. From my experience, every game is gonna have things wrong with them, things you dont like, and things you do like. The best way for me to weed them out is to just rent them and decide for myself.
