    Rays-Sox brawl

Then the Sox brawl with themselves. These 2 really hate each other. I know the Yanks & Sox fans love to hate each other. But Tampa & Boston's teams might have an equal hatred. They get into something every year.

I saw the fight between the Rays and Sox players, but why did Manny and Youkalis get into a brawl?

That was a slick dodge by Cocoa Crisp no doubt about it.

My roommates and I could not get enough of that dodge, that was straight out of the Matrix. I've watched the clip of that fight at least a dozen times.

Coco Crisp is a moron. So he gets upset that Bartlett blocked the base on a steal attempt leading to a minor thumb injury, and for this he decides to slide into Iwamura as payback, because apparently Crisp has them confused, and injures him. Then he gets hit with a pitch, following a shouting match with the Rays skipper the night before, and decides to charge the mound, he had to know it was coming, go to first and end it already, but nope, this moron charges the mound. How I wish Jonny Gomes would have clocked him and laid him out in the middle of the field. The irnoic part is hearing Crisp mention them as fighting like girls yet this is baseball where a "bench clearing brawl" normally means everyone meeting at the pitchers mound and pointing fingers, really tough guys.

Dude, this wasn't one of those brawls. Crawford & Gomes were not looking to engage in a shoving match. And Crisp & Shields threw puches w/a purpose, even if they didn't cleanly connect.

And I'm miffed @ ESPN last night. Anderson (one of the few I like) talks about the Sox dugout incident. And states "Youkilis doesn't know what happened". Now I, & evidently SC, don't know what caused those 2 to fight. Manny could be in the wrong. By why report the thing as if Youkilis was the innocent party? If you don't know what happened? He made it sound like Youkilis was just going to get a swig of gatorade when Manny came & jumped @ him w/a knife.

Co-sign. I'm so tired of all things related to Boston sports.

Did you even see the fight? He said they fight like girls because most of them waited until Navarro had him pinned to try and do anything. And then the ones who did were trying to scratch his eyes instead of throwing real punches. This wasn't a regular brawl, there were a LOT of punches thrown.

I mean hell, Crisp even credited Shields for not throwing as his head, and then for not trying to hit him while he was pinned. He then gave Navarro credit for covering up his head as best he could so his teammates couldn't hit his head. They resorted to scratching and pulling hair. Sorry, but that is a bitch move, no matter the fight.

I still don't get why Crisp charged the mound. It's not like Shields tried to bean him, he hit Crisp in the leg and the score should have been settled at that point. Seems Crisp overreacted both nights. I still don't know why he's mad at Bartlett. It's not like Bartlett put his knee down to try to hurt him on Wednesday. Don't really care if Gomes gets suspended, I do wonder how long Shields suspension will be and if any other suspensions will be handed out. Rays should have waited for another night to do this when a game was out of hand. I don't want Shields or Kazmir throwing at anybody, it kills any chance of the team winning and taxes the pen in a situation like this.

Cocoa definitely overreacted both nights.. but still the Rays' players still didn't prove their manhoods by pinning Crisp to the ground and throwing blows.. didn't look right to me. I can't stand to see one guy get piled on and seeing 4 guys throwing wildly..

I wouldn't be surprised if Crawford gets suspended. He should get at least 2 or 3 games.

^That's why I respect Navarro more than I did, he actually tried to keep his teammates from landing big blows to Crisp's head while he had him pinned.

Suspensions were announced a little bit ago. http://blogs.tampabay.com/rays/2008/...ts-rays-h.html

                              James Shields - 6 games
                              Jonny Gomes - 5 games
                              Edwin Jackson - 5 games
                              Carl Crawford - 4 games
                              Akinori Iwamura - 3 games

                              Coco Crisp - 7 games
                              Jon Lester- 5 games
                              Sean Casey - 3 games

When the suspensions start are staggered (ex. When Crawford's suspension ends, Aki's starts).
