Being a Mets Fan, I never want to see one of out players get hurt or suspended over some stupidness. But after seeing the incident over and over this morning (my cable was out last night), I only have one thing to say: "Mota, I hope your wife has a good life insurance policy out on you, because your dead meat my friend"
While im against violence, as a player, you have to defend yourself. This is not to say that everytime a player is hit its intentional, but in clear cut cases, such as this, I personally think they should beat the crap out of the pitcher. When the intent is there to either hurt the guy, or to let him know that you can hurt him, and the player goes after him, I cant feel sorry for the pitcher at all, because a pitcher can effectively end the career of a player, or even worse, kill him.
On the common sense side of it, How stupid is this guy?? You hit him last year, he had words for you. This year, after youve just hit a 3run HR, you decide to go after him again. Ummm, Hello???? Genius..............you should have left it alone, you got your revenge by hitting the HR (Kinda anyway), why go any further?
Lastly, Piazza, who is a relatively cool guy, has to be thinking, First Clemens hits me, throws a broken bat at me (which could have seriously hurt him), Mota hits me last year, and now this. WTF is wrong with me??? I must be the Hit Batsmen Poster Child.
Hitting players is part of the game. Acting childish isnt. Hopefully they suspend Mota for a few regular season games for his actions, (including the running away, what a coward), and they also suspend Piazza (well maybe just fine him
) .
