The negatives I've read about WSB. Please address.

I haven't played it, but here are the criticisms I've read in different places on WSB. Curious what your thoughts are:

    1. The ballparks are too small
    2. The players are all the same size, don't look like their counterparts other than their faces.
    3. Player attributes do not come into play, just the human skill level.
    4. The turf acts like concrete when the ball bounces.
    5. Ball physics are too floaty.

    Any credence to these?

        1. Kind of true. Not THAT noticeable though.
        2. True. Some faces look good though.
        3. Hmm, not sure! Need to play more to find out.
        4. Yes, but not horrible.
        5. Yes. I've noticed some of my HR's feel like a golf tee shot... 250 yards and still gaining momentum LOL

1- the have noticed them as being too small-they seem fine to me
2- they are, but it does not look as bad as it sounds- the players look great
3-I should play more, but I know this is not the case with batting- i have been able to hit two HR's wiht Sosa using the "contact" swing- i have not come close to hitting a "contact" HR with any other Cubs, for example. As far as fielding goes it is harder to say but I think it is much improved from last year- for instance. Patterson has gotten to many balls in right CF that Sammy was struggling to catch up to. And since Patterson is a much better and faster fielder than Soa I have to think their abilities are coming in to play
4- this is true- it is not bad but balls hit to the alley do seem to bounce and find the wall rather quickly
5- No, the physics are the best I have seen in a baseball game. Why? First thing is the way hard hit balls "bend". Line drives move left to right or right to left and it looks very real. I have even seen hard grounders take a weird skid and change directions every so slightly- very convincing looking to me.
Second- I have seen a variety of hits. Bloobs, liners down the lind, soft grounders that get past the pitcher and sneak through for a hit, etc. Ball physics is on of this games stengths

                1. Maybe. It could be that the fielding camera is pretty close though. It makes things look close. Not noticeable.

                2. Definately not a big deal. Faces are so-so and could be improved.

                3. No way. Not true at all.

                4. Maybe a little. Not really noticeable too much though.

                5. They seem great if you ask me. The ball may not slow down enough in the outfield, but other than that, bounces are great and realistic.

This game is most complete, in depth baseball game on the market today. When I say in depth, I'm talking about the franchise mode -- it's amazing.

Not only that, the gameply, animations, and graphics are gorgeous. Anyone who says ASB has better graphics is just plain wrong. Period. One thing I really like better than ASB is the fact that everybody doesn't have a cannon out there. That was the one minor irritation I always had with it. Still a great game too though!

For those that like the cursor based batting system and want a deep game, this is it.

                        1. Yes, i think the outfields seem a little too small. That was one of the first things i noticed on a ball hit to the outfield. It doesn't really affect gameplay though, because the players move accurately enough in relation to the field.

                        2. Yes, this is true. The uniforms look really nice, but a lot of the player sizes and stances are a bit generic. But that's not to say they don't look good, because they do.

                        3. There might be some truth to this, but i think part of it will depend on what level you are playing on also. There has to be some human player skill involved in playing the game or you might as well just watch a game and not play it (where this line is drawn is different for all the games out there).

                        4. I didn't notice this to be much of a problem, but i've only played a few games.

                        5. Yes, i think the ball looks a bit floaty when it's in play, but i think most of this is attributed to the way the camera moves around. If you watch the replays, the balls move with a very realistic velocity and trajectory.

yeh you might be right it could be the camera. cause on replay looks fine in field but that was what i wanted fixed this year. not big issue at all but would like Sega to fix floaty look of ball in field of play.
oh yeh.....this game rocks! gotta go play

yeh you might be right it could be the camera. cause on replay looks fine in field but that was what i wanted fixed this year. not big issue at all but would like Sega to fix floaty look of ball in field of play.
oh yeh.....this game rocks! gotta go play
