    Great post Smalls,
The hitting in MVP is simple but simplicity is one of the best ingredients for intuitiveness.I've never played a baseball game where the "pull" and "punch" effect of batting the ball is so palpable. This game might not be for everybody, but it sure as hell is for me.

I fired up the franchise mode w/ the Royals. I am in the series right now w/ the Chi Sox. Below are some things that I like and dislike about the game.

      Likes:
*Pitcher / Batter Interface - It's just plain fun!
*Camera Angles - EA really hit this on the head. I feel like I am on the field most of the time.
*Sound - I love how the crowd gets up for the home team.
*Pitching Sequences - I have had some great battles while pitching.

      Dislikes:
*Quick Pitching - the computer is throwing the ball before I am really ready.
*No pitcher / batter names during hitting view - the only time you see the name is when the batter walks up to the plate. It's like EA forgot this part.
*No Dive / Jump - This is nuts in my book.
*No User Stats - didn't EA make this famous?

So far, the game isn't bad. I just don't know if it has what it takes to keep my attention. Some things are really fresh like the goals for doing things in the franchise. But then some things feel left out. Can anyone find where to see how many pitches I have thrown in a game? What about batting practice?

PS - Anyone think the snarl type facial expressions are kinda funny?

It's a keeper for me. I love the interface as well as the fielding. The game is lacking some statistical items when batting or pitching. The screen tell you nothing, but I like having to judge whether my pitcher is tired or not without reading a stamina bar... keeps you guessing.

Hitting is an absolute blast. Just watching someone like Kerry Wood pitch to me as a 95+mph fastball zooms by, then swinging for the fences at a changeup is pure fun, imo. The replays are great and to think I turn stuff like this off on most games. The announcing is good, the graphics are nice, stadiums look real, etc.. I've seen broken bats, diving catches, players thrown out at the plate, and the list goes on.

There are some quarks, but they are minor and don't take away from the game, imo once again.

Bottom line: If you can afford all the games, get em. I have ootp5 for serious stat keeping, but MVP is just a fun game fire up on the ps2.

Too bad they could releaese a small updater for rosters and fix some of the quibbles I have with the game.

Oh well once I figure out how to stop the game from nickle and diming me to 15 hits a game each time out I'll be one happy camper.

                  Turn fielding assist on.

I miss so many bloopers becuase, 1 - I'm 31 years old, and 2 - I don't react quick enough sometimes or the fielder is different than the one I'm trying to control!

I want to repeat what I said in an earlier post. MVP is an incredible game. And this is from a huge Sega fan who thinks all EA sports games are crap. I bought WSB at the same time as MVP, play WSB for 30 minutes and haven't touched it again. I am addicted to MVP. It's pure baseball crack.

Sure hope EA sees the light, for future sales and for other reasons and releases a PC patch for this game. How hard would it be to do.

                              JAYBEE,
-If the game is fun for you, then that's all that really matters...But, not everyone agrees that this is what is fun...again, I personally don't particularly like the game, but like I said, I'm not bashing it...just a diff. definition of "fun" for baseball.
-If you find the stats/"realism" to be annoying, no problem. But for me, and others, part of the "fun" of an at bat is the confrontation/strategy that goes into every pitch...Knowing what a pitcher throws (ex. heat), where he's pitched you so far, where your "cold zones" are, where you need to hit the ball to advance the runner, etc., For me, a game that can provide this detail to consider IS FUN....just timing a swing, at leat for me, is not my idea of baseball.
-THat being said, I have no issues at all with those who do love MVP's system...it has alot going for it. Its all a matter of taste....lets leave it at that and not talk about those "people afflicted with exact stats."
