lol at trying to come up with a statistical reason for all-star voting. 95% of the voters are stupid, thats about it.

Also I dont think theres any doubt that looking just at this season Uggla is having a better year than Utley.

because ESPN is ful lash it.

this is the biggest problem. Their coverage is ridiculous. Not only is much of the analysis sub-par (some is not), but the focus on certain teams is very overdone....

if the yanks had the best record in baseball, that would be said EVERY day...instead we hear EVERY day about how they are struggling, or about some dumb **** steinbrenner says.

If not that, then we hear about the BoSox.

Nevermind that there are some fantastic stories/teams/pitching staffs, etc that could be covered.

For example, what is propelling the Angels and Cubs to the top? no real analysis of this, even when the more than half the Cubs lineup was hitting over .300. OR why is Cincy losing so much, given all the hype (by espn) that had been heaping on them and their young talent.

Why are the Mets even an item of discussion? There really is no team there. And though the Rays are a huge surprise, most folks could not name 4 of their starting 9...that is as much espn's fault as the fan's.

Espn does a poor job of covering all of baseball. Unless you catch baseball tonight, you won't see much from smaller clubs.

You will hear about Shaq's rapping, TO's yapping, and more often than not, you will find a poker tournament, no matter how old, on ESPN2. I swear to ****ing god if I see that same tourney from 3-4 years ago on one more time I will scream...Their programming sucks...really, how much of a sports-network are you if you show poker reruns?

      Seriously?

Wow, I didn't think McLouth would be so low on the ballot Even though the Pirates suck, it doesn't mean that they don't have any good players...

They have the best outfield in baseball right now, that has to count for something.

You have little right to complain as a Cubs fan, seeing as they line up right behind the Yanks and Sox. "100 years blah blah blah"

And I will reiterate that Fukudome has no business being top-3 in the outfield.

Re: Why isn't Dan Uggla #2 on the All-Star ballot?

One thing that has always annoyed me about ESPN and MLB is that they could be using ESPN and their 3 games a week coverage to showcase the smaller market teams and give them some national exposure.
As much as i love that they show the Red Sox quite a bit i could just as easily sit and watch a Rays/Royals game or a Marlins/Pirates game (actually i would prefer that to some of the matchups we have seen). It would be good for Baseball if the fans could actually see Dan Uggla or Nate McClouth or Alex Gordon or Ryan Braun and guys like that play once and awhile. But instead they alternate between the same 5 or 6 teams and that is who we get to see. Oh, and they should bring back the Wednsday night doubleheader while their at it.

It's a noble idea, but that would require both the league and ESPN to acknowledge that teams (good teams even) actually exist outside of a few select markets.
