    More info on Chacon....

Apparently the insubordination already started when he refused to warm up when told to in the pen.

Then the following night he took it upon himself to start warming up in the 9th inning while Valverde was on the mound.

      I don't know....

He may well get blackballed. Sometimes teams tend to band together when something like this happens.

Jeez..Barry Bonds can't get signed, and Chacon is mediocre at best.

Not to mention the Yankees already had him and got rid of him.

Maybe he'll go to the Mets and choke Omar Minaya, or can fight with Wagner

If Ed Wade is as big a jerk as everyone says he is joking him may earn Chacon points with other teams. He won't get a big money contract but a minor league contract is not out of the question.

Bonds and Chacon are not the same situation so there is absolutely no comparison there.

The Yankees also had and got rid of Sidney Ponson and guess who's starting saturday...

Choking Minaya may not be a bad thing for the Mets either. After firing Willie Randolph the team still stinks and eventually Omar will have to answer for that.

He shouldn't get blackballed because of this incident, he should get blackballed because he's a replacement level pitcher with no upside.

            Earn points with other teams???

No way. You don't physically attack management for ANY reason and ingratiate yourself to other front offices. Players maybe, but other organiztions aren't going to tolerate or condone such behavior, even if they despise Wade.

Especially, with someone like Chacon, who is a marginal talent at best.

If he was an elite talent, yes, someone would take a flier on him. But he simply isn't that good.

The one constant in sports seems to be teams are willing to gamble on gifted athletes who are problems, not mediocre, number 5 starters.

He chokeslams Ed Wade and gets released?

I would sign him and give him a raise for chokeslamming Ed Wade.

It'd have been more hilarious if he had given Wade "sweet chin music"

Wade would have found a way to hit him harder, hell, everyone else has.

Meanwhile Manny takes out a team traveling secretary and gets a "Manny's just being Manny" slap on the wrist. Not that I think Manny should be cut, but it's always amusing when it's the guys who can't play that get made a lesson out of. If Manny had chokeslammed Epstein I doubt it'd be any different compared to what he actually did, sadly.
